My war can handle the same amount as my pld. The clear time of both with an appropriate setup (war/brd/drg/whm - PLD/BLM/BRD/WHM). There are no problems in either setup, war just takes more effort to play, and requires more skill to execute. In fact, the Tonberry King is easier with a war.

That said, I'm not arguing that WAR is fine in other content.

A team built around PLD has done WP in 8 minutes flat. I've not heard of anything under 12 for WAR, and achieving less than 15 requires considerably more effort. This is because PLD has twice the burst eHP of a WAR plus vastly superior mitigation from blocking and Flash's blind effect. Not many people are running around claiming that WP speed-runs can't be done with WAR, but it's invariably a stand-in for a job more suited to the task. PLD can do it with a much lower gear requirement due to scaling directly with damage rate (i.e. any gear weakness is mitigated by abilities), and when fully geared, PLD takes much less damage, leaving the WHM to nuke the field.

Regardless, lots of jobs get left behind for WP speedruns. Everyone wants the super-easy group, which is PLD/WHM/BRD/BLM. It's the quickest way to the most gil. Though, now that I think about it, every single Twintania run I've seen contains these 4 jobs as well. C'est la vie, I guess.

I do agree that in terms of mitigation and eHP PLD will come out on top.

What I don't agree with is saying that this effects the clear time of WP Speed Runs. Personally, given that I regularly do WP runs with a warrior that pulls entire halls and that there is nothing else to pull I would say that the issue lies with the amount of DPS. I'm able to heal that warrior, keep dots up on 3 mobs along with SF so unless there's a magic way to pull more than an entire hall I do not see how warrior tanks are the problem here. At the end of the day, a well geared/skilled pld or war can tank WP halls no problem and if it's speed runs we're talking about the tank should be well geared at least.

WAR is getting buffed for a reason.

But I don't think any WAR would have a problem with SR WP. If you have any problems with WP you probably need to zoom your camera out.
