Why Does Yoshi-P not want me to play as a class?

Playing any class in the late game in favor of a job is impossible. The designers have gone about making classes completely non viable by taking away all exclusive gear belonging to classes, Giving jobs all of the advantageous skills that having a class might have given you, and even going as far as giving you absurd stat increases just for putting on the job stone.

the official FFXIV armory system page says:

"Classes are suited to those who desire versatility, as they allow the use of actions that belong to other disciplines. In contrast, jobs grant access to exclusive actions and are ideal for situations that demand well-defined roles. Which fighting style you adopt is entirely up to you."

This is entirely untrue. I would be a lot more understanding about this whole thing, if I was told this from the getgo, but instead I just feel frustrated and lied to.

Maybe they should have worded it "Which fighting style you adopt while you play solo is entirely up to you."

The flavor text you posted says it all though. Jobs are meant for party play so don't expect to get by with classes at endgame as some of the job specific abilities you just can't live without.

Some classes may have a niche in PvP but that's about the only usefulness that I see. Not once since having obtained a job for a class did I ever feel the urge to want to continue playing the class over the job.

You do bring up a decent point, maybe PvP will be a Class savior. Though I still do wish that playing as a class was more viable. I miss Carby.. and long for that versatility. =/

You could always be a rebel, and refuse to equip SMN. Isn't DL gear also tiered to ACN? Boom.
