No need to buy or craft gear yet

Hiya,

Just wondering something, I'm lvl 32 now and leveled 3 classes. Until now I did not need at all to buy new gear, craft gear or grind gear. So none of my money went into that. I'm rolling just on quest gear. All dongeons are fine. Will it be like that until lvl 50. Will I be able to rely just on quest gear until end-game. If not, when will i need to spend some money on gear to advance.

Never really...until you run out of quests....then there are dungeon drops so ya never.

Nope, no real need to spend money on gear even at 50 unless you want some hq Griffonskin/vanya/darksteel that's only better than DL if penta melded. EDIT: griffonskin/rosegold accessories melded would be very good though if you plan on playing multiple classes, and I think are bis even over allagan. Take it with a pinch of salt though, don't have any myself ;p

Keep an eye on the market board if you really want to make some profit. 99% of the quested gear is the NQ crafted gear and some of it is available for less than the alagan pieces you would receive as an alternate quest reward. In some cases you can get the HQ version for less than the alagan pieces!

But yes on your first run through quest rewards will keep you stocked, on leveling your 2nd+ job you'll likely need to spend more time running dungeons for drops, more cash buying gear off MB, or just ignore gear completely and Fate leech to 50.

The only practical use of money is to buy some end-game gear. You can pay for darklight-equivalent gear, with level 50 HQ melded gear, instead of farming (philo token for) it. Darklight gear being the tier before the current last tier.

It allows you to farm a bit less to get stuffed and you can resell it. But on the other hand its really an hassle to find at decent prices, so its not really quicker than farming darklight.

tl;dr Crafing, just like money, has no real use atm.

You will rely on quest, dungeon, and GC gear until endgame, where you will rely almost exclusively on dungeon gear (unless you are willing to spend oodles of gil on ilvl70 crafted stuff which is mostly only marginally better than the Darklight gear you get directly from dungeon farming).
