Ever thought to go farm up all the materials you need THEN go to town and craft? there is no cool-down when changing jobs in town.
The thing I hate most is when I see somebody who needs raising while I am gathering.
Change from botanist to scholar.
Wait for cool down of resurrect to end.
Start casting.
Dead guy goes back to home point.
Change back to botanist. No GP.
*Sigh*

I kinda wish Raise was all classes but Gatherers and Crafters don't have MP, and I wouldn't want it to cost GP lol

The cooldown does not apply if you change jobs in a main city. Also, you are not prevented from auto attacking, so you do not have to wait 30 seconds to swing your axe.In a game where the primary feature is the ability to switch to any class at any time, I can't for the life of me figure out why I have to wait 30 seconds to swing my axe after switching from Fisher -> Marauder.
It's not like you can swap jobs during combat. So there's nothing exploitable by switching jobs cause it's built into the freaking game. Can we get this fixed so we can actually start crafting when we swap to a crafting class instead of waiting a minute and a half for Steady Hand II to reset?

I wish we could equip Raise or Cure while in a gathering class, but I don't see this happening.
Sadly, what you wrote is exactly what happens most of the time so I don't even bother switching anymore even though I'm a WHM main and would really like to help whenever possible.
In the DoL sub-forum a while back I suggested keeping your GP amount in the background and letting it regenerate naturally as long as you are not actively gathering.
This would mean that you could use some gathering abilities immediately after switching (provided you hadn't gathered in a while), but still prevent abuse since you couldn't just switch back and forth to refill your GP for every node.
One of the most boring things right now is farming unspoiled nodes for materials. Between their appearances, you really can't do anything else because it will reset your GP... so most people just go AFK until the next one appears.
I hate how steps lead up, why can't they make steps lead down all the time.

Who said anything about refilling GP? No, just keep track of it so that when you switch back to it, it returns you to what you should have if you stayed the class. Nobody wants wants an iWin at Gathering Forever button.I completely disagree. It would be WAY too broken if you could go to a node, pop your highest Gathering+, HQ+, attempts +1, etc. When you're finished, run 10 steps to the next node, swap classes really quick, back again and have all your GP waiting for you at full?! Gathering crystals would be completely trivial, not to mention leves.
Okay, I might just be in the minority that thinks everything should NOT be instant gratification or handed to me on a silver platter. Probably why none of my classes are at 50 yet, also. It's just my opinion, but that is a giant "WELCOME!!" sign for exploitation.
That's my main issue with the current system - I'm basically locked out of other classes unless I want to butcher my gathering potential. The good thing is if you switch from miner to botany (vise versa) you don't loose your GP
What does need to die in the fire though is when you are a miner or botany and cant change your class to fight the monster that is trying to attack you... The only option you have is to run, call your chocobo and defend yourself with the shit weapon you have in your hand...
We're already having to work around too much broken stuff in this game as it is.
In fairness, it rather nullifies the meaning of being a gathering CLASS, if you can freely switch to between combat and civilian skill sets (For example it renders the stealth skill largely pointless if you can switch out, stab all the nearby enemeis, then switch back). You can freely switch between Disciple of the Land classes without a GP penalty.
Imagine if they allowed free switching; next logical step will be that switching at all is inconvenient, and it should be like Guild Wars 2, where you can use resource nodes while set to a combat class.
