For the love of god and everything that is good and holy please ship some coders with more than 2 brain cells to SE offices. It's 2011!! I feel like I'm reading the forum of Final dial-up Fantasy XI*loading the letter "V" please wait while the looping elevator music plays...*
p2p patchers always fail..... >< more in FFXIV because the lack of population =/
With so many that can update perfectly fine, the people that can not, it is always something with their router, and ports being open/closedFor the love of god and everything that is good and holy please ship some coders with more than 2 brain cells to SE offices. Yes it is a bit of SEs fault, but the fact that it can be fixed on the user end pretty easily, and people still complain this much.... is sad.

Even after opening ports, I only got 19 kb per sec max. Using a normal client like bittorrent, I could download the largest XIV patches in 30 minutes to an hour at the latest. And now for some reason, bittorent clients wont work with this patch...S-E should just upload the patch to the website and let people download however they can...or fix the updater...especially when a free client downloading the same file blazes past it.

I have had mixed experineces with the updater, range from massive updates being impossible to download that i had to resort to another downloader to reasonable size patches downloading ok , im hoping this new one wont take forever.
-update, seems this patch went ok it was stuck at 0% a while but then patched ok

I've never seen a game that forces it's users to use backdoor methods (torrent) just to get the damn game to update because the built in updater is so absolutely terrible.
Just give us direct downloads SE, how hard is that?

Look at the Open Beta if you want to see what will go wrong with a Direct Download.
Thing got so bogged down in the first hour it opened, the whole system crashed. In a mmo that is something likly to happen after every major update.
Having Hundreds of thousands of Users Download from a direct source will almost certainly kill it or slow it to a grind... the 12-16hr downloads on PoL's direct downloads are proof enough of that.
Yes please, please, please, do something about this horrible patcher.

Im not here to troll but yes the updater need to fix, although for me have no big problem, download took me 3-4 minutes and 1-2 minutes of patching it. But i know few friends of mine from the western part of the world have this problem. :| so yea.. maybe connectivity issue or something not sure... they sure need to make a separate server for patching... .
I think they should host files locally one in NA, another in EU and lastly in JPN for just patching... .
