Updater - Still terrible

I didn't think opening up ports would actually do anything, but I'm amazed at how simple it was to do, and how much better it actually worked.

@Dubont, SS it and post here. I was having a hard time opening ports to start with, but got it to work in the end. Maybe you're doing it incorrectly.

Have you checked your firewall settings? mine was doing the same until I set mine to allow FFXIV.

The fact is it'll work for some and won't work for others, and sometimes it'll work and other times it won't work. There's been times I'd be able to download a patch in a few minutes (like tonight), and other times I am forced to resort to uTorrent.

Basically, it could be a lot of things but I'm not at all convinced it is server-related.

The Updater absolutely sucks...
In this day and age I can't believe that the Korean's outshine the Japanese. I may hate NC Soft but when they update a game its efficient and timely. This on the other hand is ridiculous. almost 3 hours later and I have 5%. Jesus I could down load The entire Lord of the rings trilogy quicker.

either you're trolling or SE just likes you because I've been downloading this thing for the past 2 hours (almost 3) and it hasn't gone past 69.3%....It only took it about 15 mins to get to 60% then from there, it's been at a crawl. ETR: 8 hours. Really SE? Ports are open and everything. Make a patcher that doesn't fail, kthxbye.

he is not trolling, I have the same experience, I only take 10-30 mins (depending on the size) and I am done, I have never taken more then an hour (when I came back from a very long break)

To be honest, I'm on pretty crappy internet but I was able to get a steady 500kbps down and it took about 15 minutes. Perhaps it's luck, no I'm not trolling. Perhaps it's the clients you're being connected to? Close and re-open the downloader to connect to new peers? Not sure whta to say but I had no issues. I might add i have an open network to my computer and disabled the firewalls as well as having my computer's ip DMZ'd so there's no risk of ports blocking the data.
