So do choco only level up if you get EXP ?

Just wondering if you need to be in level 40+ fate parties and have a job under level 50 so your getting exp is only way to level the Bird. Or if farming low level mobs for crafts items if the Bird is leveling up on its rank. When your exp is maxed out on your character. If got all jobs burn from fates and dungeons. To level 50 is your Bird just a turkey dinner then. or Becomes Only a pet and can no longer rank up? Is there other ways to level the choco up?

So long as you would normally get exp, your chocobo will also get exp, so this includes grinding mobs at lvl 50.

However, lower levels do have an advantage 50s do not, where you can build exp chains (they effect the chocobo), and can target mobs higher lvl than you.

Not true, there are lvl 50 water elementals in the south shroud. South east of Quarrymill, Urth's Fount it's called.

But it takes double, if not more, the time to kill them. I remember struggling to kill things in the Sylphlands as 47 SMN, while as 50 BLM, I don't even do my full rotation and they're dead. The level 50 weapons makes a huge difference.
