    Me too, but I'm not optimistic. Since we no longer have a stamina bar, the entire system is going to be reliant on cooldown times to pace players.

    What does that even mean? You know what isn't FF to me? Mashing a button mindlessly to finish off an easy opponent before walking back to town without a chocobo. This is an online game. It's not going to have the same combat as the single player ones.

    Auto-attack will most likely turn me off. I'm perfectly comfortable with the attack mechanic of the current game and have created my own playstyle around it.

    What happens when it changes? My playstyle changes, I feel uncomfortable, I will most likely stop enjoying what I can out of the game.

    Not in the mood to type out a big message about it, but I'm just adding my voice out there of another unhappy person with auto attack being implemented.
    I can confirm to you that this is FFXIV... The world is different, the storyline is different, the UI is different, the quests are different. As far as I am concerned, as long as we did not have the exact same FFXI with upgraded graphics, they can take whatever they want from FFXI's battle system, it will still be a different game.
    At least with AA implemented, I can communicate with people from my LS, talk tactics with the party while I'm still efficient during the battle. That's the major improvement for me with the implementation of AA.
    The biggest drawback is then issues when sleeping mobs and getting waken up due to AA (which is already a problem anyways with the lack of immediate response and mistakingly stacking 2 normal attacks). Another drawback is indeed for melees that have their tasks reduced to AA (wait time) to get TP then WS, repeat and rinse. One solution I can think of is to make the battles more dynamic not in terms of attacks but motion around/involving the mobs so that you also need to move during battles.

    Just because you use elements from a game does not mean that this game will be that game. PWI isn't WoW. RoM isn't WoW (although it looks a lot like it). FFXIV isn't FFXI. FF4 isn't FF5. Autoattack was needed to save this game because button mashing doesn't work on PC and it is incredibly dull.

    It means i like pressing buttons, like how I used to in FF7,8,9,10 and 12. Yes I think its pretty clear that its an online game with it plastered all over the place and I knew it would never have the same combat as any other FF.

    and I dont want to be given the opportunity to fill the chat box with a one sided conversation, i do enough of that inbetween leves and behests.

    to clarify, I dont care wether you want it or not as long as i can turn it off to remain in control

    ...we don't know the outcome yet some people already jumping into conclusions like this... + Auto Attack is already coming, its confirmed, done and ready... If you didn't it should of posted long before since most knew this one one feature that will most likely be added anyways...

    As long as the game gets better than getting worse... then I'm all up for all the changes.

    omg guys.... it's a replacement for the 1 button. If you think that the game is easy enough to just stand around on auto-attack, then maybe the game is just flat out TOO EASY. Seriously, sp cap for higher mobs is >10. I can solo mobs 10 rank above me no problem. Remember FFXI? If you fought an Even Match, it was literally an even match. Flip a coin, you might win. The difficulty of this game is such a joke, i've been soloing goats since the start for shizengiggles.

    Ok ive been thinking about this and a particular situation bugs me.

    If it indeed just spams the normal attacks for you then I wont be able to play Archer like I have been for the past few weeks. I like to open an attack with 3 nocked arrows then again after with another 3, if the AA works like I assume it does i'll only be able to nock 2 arrows before it attacks for me. Not that the lack of control and not being able to attack at my discretion bugs me enough already

    I don't understand the difference. I highly doubt Auto-Attack even does anything, but just more pointless animation. They are obviously going to balance the mobs so that you can't just engage a mob and let your character Auto-Attack it to death. In fact, I strongly believe that the current battle director, the same one that did FFXI, will make it harder like FFXI. Sure, he promised that there will still be solo gameplay, but he's probably talking about behest where you can join by yourself and be invited by others or doing a 1 star leve at the correct rank.
