Veteran Reward Silliness

Does anyone else feel like there's a major disconnect between Veteran Rewards and other "just for lulz" stuff and the general feel the game's lore is trying to portray?

The developers themselves said they were trying to aim for a darker, more serious story and world for FFXIV, and then they throw in Ahriman mounts and now Behemoth Mounts (which totally makes sense when all of Coerthas fears the presence of a single Behemoth) and silly minions and what not.

Note: This is NOT a complaint. Gods know I love my little Bite-Size Pudding, but I do feel like there's a disconnect between the world and these little extras.

The good news is that, Lore-wise pretty much everything they do that isn't blatant promotional b.s. can be explained away. Mobs can be tamed, minions are toys and toys can be of anything we want - including the cute little classic sprites. I'm still on the fence about this whole franchise cross-over thing and I'd like to reserve judgment until I can either express a sigh of relief and admiration towards the team's skill... or a scathing admission of my disappointment in their superficiality.

However ... how can we be talking about giving away mounts of the most iconic mobs in Final Fantasy history to "veterans" already? The game's been out for two months. I'd expect to see behemoth mount for like, congratulations on a few years. Clearly, they're pushing their luck a bit, and I certainly can't wait until people get sick of the novelty and stop spamming my screen with the same meta nonsense...but that's not a reason to just outright deny fun as long as SE doesn't go from boundary pushing to blatant boundary disregard.

Maybe that Behemoth we took down had a litter of pups nearby and one somehow imprinted on us? >.>

It's not the two month reward, we're just already talking about it being a reward at some point despite being only two months into the game. The actual two month reward was like, a black bathing suit and a black chocobo hatchling minion. The last listed reward was for 90 days. So, we know Behemoth is at least 120 days but probably more. It still seems a little soon to be giving away such legendary figures as mounts, though. What about my guivre mount? <sniffle>

It is an JRPG at heart. The JRPG genre is KNOWN for silliness. No matter how serious it is.

you know what would be awesome as a vet reward? the battle themes from the series. i.e. you can change the normal battle theme to whatever one from the series you want. that's what I would love as a vet reward
