    Not to be a downer, but the icon for the Muskateer's Guild makes it fairly obvious that it's a pistol-based class. The devs aren't doing to redesign a class because one person wants it done a different way.

    But the devs said they are redesigning all the classes from the ground up so who knows.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
