One of the differences from XI is you can change the name of the LS at will. Pretty handy for a coil LS to be able to stick the next run time in there for all to see.In FFXI we had /lsmes and we could leave messages about events or whatever. Why do we not have this? If this is already in the game I haven't seen any of my LS's use it so sorry.
Plenty, plus FC's will be come more relevant with housing and PVP. A linkshell will just keep on being a chat channel...So there are differences, right?

I agree that it would be useful to have log in/out info (toggle to display or not for those on many active LS) for the LS as well as 'how many days since last log in' on the member screen.
Well, we want it, so please put time into adding it.
Spent over a week recruiting people for an endgame FC, got very few people willing to leave their FC for a new one just to do endgame content. After my first day recruiting for a "Linkshell" looking to do EG content, anyone with interest said so right away.
But I have to send people either a website, or my own Search Comment has to be dedicated to being the linkshell message.
If you gave linkshells the option to leave a message for their users that they can check, should they want to (not have 8 linkshells + an FC worth of messages when you log in,) you would help a lot of issues new groups are having starting on already established servers.
tl;dr:
/lsmes is still wanted and needed by a large number of your players, and would make it much easier for players to do the content they want to do without being in total confusion, or making us players do lame things like use our /seacoms as a linkshell message. (And making the name of the LS "chk leader /seacom")
Thanks.
That would be very nice to have a /lsmes. There have been countless amount of times when I've needed to let my static know something and not all are on at the same time. I'm the only one in my static that is not part of the FC its associated with so posting in FC short message is not an option.
The main function of a Linkshell in FFXI was to act as whatever it needed to be used for. It could be social, it could be endgame, it could be for people leveling, it could be for people who like My Little Pony, whatever. You could also have as many of them as you wanted. Many people had multiple LSes for the different events in game, 1 for sky, 1 for sea, etc. and many were all in effect "guilds" with points, officers and attendance rules. You said, let's make a real "guild" in XIV and call it a FC, but we'll let them keep the versatility of XI's LS system. But you forgot something key, the LS system served as a "multiple guild system," but you can not have "multiple guilds" in XIV.
You designed the game in a bunch of 8-24 man instances, but left the smaller, and more approachable Linkshell featureless. Please take note!
^ I'm with him.
Please reconsider this feature. It would help tremendously in creating events, expanding and bringing the community closer together.
Thank you!
I too actually wish to see /lsmes or something similar added to linkshell chats. It would be great for me as we have an FC and LS of the same name, with the LS one being for those who dont want to leave their other FC. I lead our coil nights and I fill the group from the LS members as well as FC members, so having a way to make a raid-related announcement in the related LS chat would make things easier. I hope this does get added at some point.
It would be really nice to have a bulletin system for LSes as then it would be much easier to gather people for a 24 man Lalafel group to run Crystal Tower on... It would also be nice to have more people available for LSes because then maybe I wouldn't need 2+ just for my Lalafell LSes... Can't we Lalafel have solidarity outside of an Fc? My FC is actually more of the small, closeknit group of friends and my LSes are broad interest groups.
