Gamepads, new actions coming in heavensward, not enough room for all of them.

For those of you who use gamepads as your primary input device. I'm sure you realize that there's just barely enough room in the controller hot bars to set up all of your actions. As a Scholar I have to separate all of my healing and damaging spells onto 2 different hot bar sets. And alternate between them when dpsing or healing. I have absolutely no more space in both sets to accommodate any more spells. When patch 3.0 hits I'll have to put any other spells into a new set and dance between them depending on the situation.

Ideally you want all of your important actions in a set where you have immediate access to, switching between sets to use a crucial action isn't ideal. In the future more and more actions will be added and eventually I think a controller just wont be viable anymore.

How are we suppose to play efficiently with a gamepad once there are too many actions to fit into your controller UI?

All the jobs and classes will be getting new abilities along with new options for cross hotbar users to quickly toggle between pages to account for the new tricks.

Keyboard and mouse has the same issue, it's already hard enough to fit everything you need to be conveniently accessible, unless you buy a set designed for gaming.

I still have around 4-6 slots for future skills on DRG and NIN, and more than that available for Bard, on my L2+R2 hold bar. I guess Scholar has way more to handle, though.

There's a macro command: /crosshotbar change "1-8" that helps with that. ^^:

I'm so relieved that they took that into consideration. looks like the article didn't give out much info on it, but at least we know its an issue that will be addressed.

Doesn't this feature already exist?
I can swap to any given crosshotbar at any time.

You already have the problem and have a solution for it in the game right now. In order to fit everything I need do as a DD I macro my combos. Now, White Mage isn't so easy so tend to focus on healing. Still, macros are your friends.

Maybe if you are ok with doing subpar dps you can do that.

I put the ones that are rarely used or never used on the 2nd set and have more then enough room still.
