The only way to prevent this is to put Selene (or any other pet) back to Steady/Obey just before the CD's cast bar finishes (Fey Glow has no cast bar) and even this is a gamble. 50% of the time you do this, the CD's effect won't go off but you still wasted the CD.
Selene is easy to deal with. Target a mob and hit 'Obey' and she won't use anything until told, while still spamming Embrace on whoever needs it.

It's Eos where you have to put her back in steady, but if you need her to use Whispering Dawn then you proberbly need her other skills too. Rouse > Fey Illumination, (takes Eos out of steady) Auto Whispering Dawn with +40% and +20% healing.

As above, if you target a mob and hit obey she won't do that anymore.

Micromanagement is tedious and not fun and therefore not a solution. Some people may enjoy it, as there is always someone who enjoys anything, but I'd wager the far greater majority do not.
It is also not feasible to require micromanagement in a game built around and where a large portion of players use a controller to play.
Does fine micromanagement skills make you a better player? Absolutely that is the case, but you should not be put in a situation where you are excluded from social content based on this factor alone.

Micromanagement is much easier on PC than on PS3, so I think SE would not want that to be the long-term solution.

Most of these suggestions are to prevent micromanaging. A lot of them are simply about making the pets more manageable without having to solely focus on it. As it is now, at least IMO, pets are def not being used to their most effective ability.

?? if you use obey, it won't do anything you don't tell it to do except embrace. You only need to use obey once, as well. you don't have to keep clicking it every time you switch to another target (some people seem to think this; though its mostly relevant to SMN). She won't blow her other skills if you're using it under any circumstances I've ever seen. What is a little unintuitive is regardless of whether you're on SMN or SCH, for the obey/sic commands to take effect you have to be targeting a mob.

On EOS obey doesn't work from what I've seen. Pretty sure it only works on SELENE. Could be completely wrong. I'm at work so I cant test it.

For Selene this is true, but Eos will still blow Whispering Dawn even if obey is used. Seems to be any and all healing skills are used, while other are not until ordered.

In patch 2.1 we will be making a few adjustments to pet hotbars and abilities, starting with being able to hide the pet hotbar for mouse and keyboard users and addressing the use of pet actions for macros.
We're looking into various adjustments, but did want to clarify that we have no plans to implement a gambit style system for pets.
