They could just do what wow did and allow me to turn off auto abilities so that I have to click them for them to be used.

Maybe something like WoW, where you right click the skill so they don't cast stuff automatically. Then I could use Whispering Dawn when I want and plan it better. I've tried a lot of the suggestions for controlling Eos (I don't have many problems with Selene) but its just not working. Even if I could get it to work, its a lot of trouble lol. Today when I ran AK, I noticed Eos was casting Whispering Dawn as soon as the tank took a hit. I swear she used to cast it when more than one person was taking damage. I love my Scholar, but for me...Eos has just been buggy lately.
Also, like you said...I'd love to be able to use macros for pet abilities.

I get that. Leaving obey is fine sometimes. But when you have one dps at 70% and the tank is taking massive damage so I manually embrace....well she just seems to shit CD abilities. I'm just saying I'd like something to manage my pet on a more circumstantial instances a la macros or the if -> then statement system. What you say def works if all is going well for the most part though.
As someone who has been playing SCH for a few weeks now, to take a break from my DRG, I can say that I haven't really had many issues with my pet, honestly. I have obey, place, heel, and Fey Illumination on my first hotbar with most of my DOTs. I'll usually pop a Fey Illumination during a heavy pull or boss fight, then I can immediately switch to obey and have her go back to embracing party members.
If I don't do that, she will just spam her other party abilities, which is generally fine since they help anyway. My SCH is only 44 at the moment, so I can't speak for the likes of Coil, but pet managing really isn't as bad as it sounds. The only time I have a derp moment with a pet is sometimes when I place it during a boss fight, then forget to heel it when we're running off to the next area and it withdraws from the field due to the distance created, lol.
Other than that, it's not an issue. As for the DPS getting hurt with the tank... Again, generally not an issue. I'll simply use Physick on the DPS, then probably put Aldoquium back on the tank by then. If the party itself is hurt, I'll use Succor to give myself enough time to prioritize healing.
So yeah, I'm fine with the way the system currently is. It sounds more like a personal issue, honestly.
That was a bug that was supposed to have been fixed. It should be using embrace anytime there is someone who's lost enough hp for a cure to be useful.I get that. Leaving obey is fine sometimes. They aren't going to be making any kind of conditional if-then system, they already said in a recent dev post they don't want to have gambits or macros that can fire other macros or other things that would enable total automation (which is probably why the sic mode simply uses every action withi mpunity whether there is use to it or not (e.g. using garuda contagion when the target has 0 DoTs on it)
I realize it's a long shot. But being familiar with programming I know it's possible to set a limit on macros and the manner in which they are employed. The system is already there. But as was mentioned before there should be some modocum of AI with pets. As it stands now they are mindless things who just want to have everything on CD and follow you.
And if it's been fixed I havent seen it. I would even settle for being able to set priorities as to who Eos or Selene heals. Similar to what Altanas mentioned earlier, have the pets move to where priority of the skills are. AOE for heal or attack speed/spell speed buff move to the dps up closer. Increase healing move back to where healers are. Just something that indicates the pet is more than a spamming thing on screen.
And for all that is good and holy get rid of the Pet Hotbar. So damn annoying.
