Notice to Scholars in AK groups

Please stop casting Shadow Flare on top of the wall to blind your party members. They can't see the void forming on the ground when they're standing so close to the wall and attacking it. Thanks.

I know I certainly won't be doing this when I run through as a Scholar later. It's just annoying and doesn't really contribute much to the fight in general, honestly.

Maybe zoom your camera out and watch for when the sides are clear so you know when to run?

I'm a SCH and do the whole of AK in cleric stance. Shadowflare and 5 other DoTs make for decent dmg to get the wall down before bees even spawn.

Isn't that Yoshi-P's answer? Zoom out and you'll be fine? Lol.

Anyway, the camera isn't the issue, really. I don't have a problem dodging it, but when Shadow Flare is dropped, suddenly I can't see.

Also, I'm on PS3, so zooming out during a fight isn't quite as easy as it is do on PC, I'm sure. It's just a matter of consideration, I think, that's all.

Demon Wall itself is not a difficult fight, so Shadow Flare isn't even needed. I've been in a handful of groups that took it down before the bees without the use of Shadow Flare at all.

EDIT: I guess the wording was wrong there. I'm about to get Shadow Flare on my SCH, so I know it does contribute, but it doesn't really feel necessary for this particular fight, ya know? Yes, it helps, but impairing the vision of your DPS isn't exactly helpful, lol.

I don't play with my camera zoomed out, so suddenly having to do so seems a little unfair. Even during the Titan HM fight, I don't play with the camera zoomed out, but I still clear the fight without issue. So yeah... I'm sure that the feature helps, but as a PS3 player, it's not as easy to zoom in and zoom out during fights, and such.

I play as MNK or PLD in AK a lot, on gamepad, and it's not hard to zoom out at all. You can do it before engaging, you know.

Zoom your camera out and don't stand so close to the wall, it has a huuuuuuuge hitbox and you have less of a chance to get knocked off from being too close.

Shadow Flare adds some nice DPS so I dunno why you think it doesn't contribute.

Yeah, this is a case where 'zoom your camera out' actually will fix your problem. And it contributes a lot, honestly, any extra damage on the wall is welcome imo.

Why? Are you blind? It's easy to see. It crosses the entire room.

No, I'm not blind, but when you have a purple-ish/blue aura mixing with a similar color, it's not exactly easy to see the floor changing on you, lol.

I'm sorry but that is a bad reason to not use one of your primary dps abilities on SCH. You do realize that demon wall has a very simple pattern right? You should always be preemptively standing in the right location anyways.. If SF is the reason you get hit by a move from demon wall you either just need more practice or you're bad in general and don't pay attention, I'd guess the first one because it's really not hard to avoid once you've done it a few times and memorize the pattern.

You should know the fight well enough by now to not even need to look at the floor.
