    So, is there a technical reason why we can't dye certain armor?

    Artifact, Coliseum, the unique sets like Foestriker's and Battlemage... nearly anything endgame that isn't crafted can't be dyed. I'm trying to understand why.

    It doesn't require an impressive amount of retexturing. They have the system in place, and the engine to make it work... so the only thing I can think of is a lack of effort.

    Artifact has certain sentimental roles, and I understand the need to keep those the color they are... but why can Coliseum garbs which share the same metal texture as Mythril, cannot be dyed? Why can't Cavalry? Have they ever offered a proper explanation for this? I can see Artifact 1 requiring the sentimental need to keep the design color, but shouldn't Artifact 2 allow for dyeing?

    As a Paladin of the Maelstrom, it breaks my heart that my future is set in a world of blue regalia when I am supposed to be a "free" Paladin as a theme. Would having the choice of color really hurt the game in any way?

    Working as intended. SE wants us to appreciate the original armor designs. They might allow dyes somewhere along the line.

    I've never seen them explain anything. I'm not even being sarcastic. If you think about all the things they have done from their Monetary policy to copyright restrictions to OBT NDA to mechanics and Nerfs, they never give any explanations. Why is it everyone I talk to needs to use Paypal to process their sub, SE won't process it? We don't know, they don't tell us.

    I'm guessing theyll release a new batch of 'super' dyes for special equips that will require some grindy resource like tomestones to purchase/craft/whatever, in order to keep you subbing etc.

    Thay have explained this several times. AF's will never be dyed because the design is connected to the job lore and feel. A White mage AF can't be black and purple.

    Dungeon drops like the battlemage tunic are suposed to be unique items so the color and designs are fixed, crafted items on the other hand are created by people all over Eorzea in mass so those can be dyed or bought of any colour.

    Bascially, it's a lore thing. Some may like it, some may not but that's how it is and don't expect it to change.

    Good to now, but I think I'll keep pressing the issue anyways. Enough pressure from the fanbase and they might at least lift the restrictions on the dungeon gear. There's heavy division on the AF gear, but only a tiny minority seem to favor locking out the rest of the gear. Maybe Square should stop being stubborn and listen.
