30 hours later, Wish I could get a refund

Game is great.. It almost just like playing a normal FF game. I am going through quests and leveling good, having a lot of fun.. I start getting dungeon quests in my main story line. no prob.. I have been sitting in the duty finder for 2 hours .. I am paying to play a game where I am being forced to group in order to progress my story.. ad thats not even this big problem. there is no one to group with to do the darn thing... I cant even get a retainer till I do these quests and your game is not allowing me to do them.. Really wish I could get my money back.. I am not paying for a game so I can log in and hurry up and wait.....

This is a real problem, but especially with the DF a damage class. Your best bet is to find a group, either a LS or a FC to run the story dungeons with. There are few out there, see if you can find one. Once you have a group of people who are willing to help your get through the group content, it becomes a lot of fun. And if you have a good group those dungeons themselves can be really fun too. I know your pain, I do. Everytime I queue up solo as a damage class I wait upwards of 50minutes to get in.

So don't quit, find other people. Seriously! It makes all the difference.

This will hopefully be changed once patch 2.1 comes out. In this patch, they are adding a random duty finder, that rewards people for being put into any dungeon that needs people, and they will also be increasing the xp gained from dungeons to entice people to use those to level instead of FATEs.

Folks are aware of the problems with dungeons, but that's the nice thing about MMOs: They can be fixed

I agree that this is a problem. Last night a FC mate needed level 20 Ifrit, and they were MRD. So I switched to my healer and figured this should be quick and easy...

Nope. Even with a tank and healer it took forever to get in with Duty Finder. The whole time I'm thinking, "This is not a good sign. There aren't 2 DPS in this entire server group that need this fight? Really?"

Story mode Ifrit has no rewards as you know, even the EXP is pitiful =/ so nobody does it twice.
Perhaps just a nice dungeon loot chest at the end would be nice?
But its nice to take photos there :P

Which is exactly the problem. How are new players going to get through the game if they can't get past certain story points that are forced parties that people aren't willing to re-do?

when your done the story content why would you want to go back?

Uhh another,"I'm being forced to group to progress", post. Instead of queuing in for 2hours you should have just tried to shout it. would be way faster.

Actually, they can fix that. They're adding incentives for folks to go queue up for random story stuff, and everything except the primal fights should be usable for xp after the patch comes out as well.

Free companies, link shells, and even just shouting is the way to go. Having to play with other people is kind of the point of a MMO and most MMOs have some way of forcing people to group together to progress; Almost always in dungeons.
