This is not an experimentWell, the PS3-Players give you PC guys and dolls a hard time when we lag our way to the quest boss and we also make you wait till we are able to abort the cutscenes. We might also be the reason why you won't get certain features.
On the other side, the PC compromises markets thanks to botters which you won't find on PS3. Both sides have arguments why playing together on two different platforms is not the best solution.
But keep in mind that it is something people have asked for since ages. "Why can't we play together? It is almost the same Game?". Now we see by own experience why it isn't the easiest thing to do. Live and let live is my motto regarding this issue. SE will hopefully learn and allow future developments for cross-playing on different platforms so in the end, we might benefit from this experiment.... they did this with FFXI (ps2 + pc + xbox360).
