And that's why they're offering a free upgrade to the PS4 version. They're not going to hold back because the PS3 may struggle.

Yeah. I mean, inevitably, much like the PS2... They will have to shift to a different platform to continue playing, I think. PS3 will be fine for this game for the first year or two, but after that, they will either have to shift to PC or PS4 to continue playing because of the memory issue. You can only stretch a rubber band so far until it finally pops.

You do realize that there is a min specifications for pc too? This was intended for both PC with low specs and PS3... That way they can have a bigger player base... with a good looking game and still with old PCs / PS3http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post1173638
The reason was both memory and display resolution. Both are shortcomings of the PS3 platform. (PS3 runs the game in 720p.)

Nothing... he just want to make a point (using a bad example).I don't get this. What does not load fast enough? The dungeon? What does it have to do with getting wiped in Titan? I died in Titan several times but I don't fault my stock PS3 setup. I also won Titan w/o dying. So again, what does being on PS3 have anything to do about getting wiped on Titan? ( very confused )

Have a safe tripWell, the thing here is, if the game stays so poorly optimised as it is now, catering to the whims of a 7 year old system, then i can bet most pc users will jump ship to a mmo thats developed for a pc. ( i know i will )
I was devo to find out ESO is on consoles also, looks lke that game with suffer the same concequences as this one.![]()

This is not an experimentWell, the PS3-Players give you PC guys and dolls a hard time when we lag our way to the quest boss and we also make you wait till we are able to abort the cutscenes. We might also be the reason why you won't get certain features.
On the other side, the PC compromises markets thanks to botters which you won't find on PS3. Both sides have arguments why playing together on two different platforms is not the best solution.
But keep in mind that it is something people have asked for since ages. "Why can't we play together? It is almost the same Game?". Now we see by own experience why it isn't the easiest thing to do. Live and let live is my motto regarding this issue. SE will hopefully learn and allow future developments for cross-playing on different platforms so in the end, we might benefit from this experiment.... they did this with FFXI (ps2 + pc + xbox360).

Every single FFXI expansion added at least two new classes. Holy crap, what more do you want? It wasn't limited by the ps2.
Even wow didn't add that many each expansion. Put the tin foil hat away already.

(Completely irrelevant)Omg this signature!

Stop trying to be reasonable! But keep in mind that it is something people have asked for since ages. "Why can't we play together? It is almost the same Game?". I'm a PC user and wouldn't even dream of trying to play an MMO on a console, but more power to those that do play that way. As long as I'm not stuck with an interface that's clearly designed for a console instead of a PC (see Skyrim) it doesn't bother me a bit.
