Heavy Armor in this game makes my eyes bleed

As much as I generally like the armor in this game, my Warrior is level 44 and I ONCE AGAIN find myself wearing "tin can" armor with a duckbill visor and droopy eyes. I've worn this exact same armor set at least four times during the leveling process, although now it adds shoulder pads. Based upon what I can expect at higher levels, it looks like there is at least one more variation of the set that adds a fin to the helm. It's absolutely terrible.

If I could at least turn off the helm this armor might be somewhat cool, but as it stands, I hate everything about the design.

I know that different people have different tastes in armor design, but I really hope that future armor sets provide a little bit more variety and give us the option to turn our helms off.

I agree hopefully as time goes on they will give us different variations, or hopefully some more crafted recipe's for the armor or something to mix it up a little. I usually love the armor detail in FF games, but it is lacking just a little variety, but not to bad considering the game hasn't been out on re-release that long. We can hope! But I do think it's a good idea if they could impliment the head piece not showing at least that would make it visually more appealing to me.

Everyone hates the tin can armor. My advice to you is save up your mythos and work towards relic armor, so you aren't a darklight trashcan lifer like me.

I hate them too, but I doubt Square will add an helmet-less option. They already stated on the darklight cowl sets that it requires 2 separate models and they don't see the point in spending the resources to make a second model. I'm just happy I finally started getting the AF2 armor set on my paladin so I don't have to look at that hideous armor set anymore.

What really sucks is even though I got an allagan body piece to drop in the coil I had to upgrade my helmet to AF+1 to really get the best out of the upgrade. It forces you to upgrade both at once. This type of armor needs to go away forever.

And to salt the wound, its back to the can when you get darklight or its crafted equivalent. I really hope I'm wrong on the crafted part though.

But if there's something positive to take away from this, it is that we tanks are quite literally a can of whoop-ass.

Vanity (cosmetic) gear is coming in 2.1.

I don't like the tank gear as you indicated, but I also was hellbent on finding ways around it.

Made sure I got my Cavalry set from Brayflox's Long stop, which carried me with little issue all the way to AF at 45 (cavalry gear is lvl 34 and really quite good).

Also, there are ways of getting around the Dark Light gear as well, it just requires people to not scoff at your iLvl.

Um. You can turn off the helm. Unless it's one of those armour pieces that incorporates chest and helm as a single piece.

Um. The OP and all the following posts are clearly talking about the tin can.

He was talking about the heavy armor, which incorporates the head and chest into one piece.
