    Help with MATERIA explination

I am a bit confused and maybe I am just missing something, but in order to get materia you need to take only spiritbonded items and turn them into materia?

I am only asking because it seems it takes a bit of time to get pieces of gear to be spiritbonded in order to break them down so you can use it to enhance your gear.

I appreciate any assistance in understanding.

    Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: You can also buy them off the market boards.

That is the way it currently works in general. Later, you will have access to more items that help spirit bonding gear go by faster. However, it still takes some time to fully spirit bond sets of gear for the good materias.

Check your GC items for some of these SB items or the market boards.

Yes it takes time, mainly use during battle, crafting or gathering to spiritbond your armor. If you wish to convert it into materia you do so after it is at 100%. The gobbie NPC and others in the same area from the materia melding quests who give you the ability to meld materia have an information dialog you can click also if you need more info.

At low lvls, worry not for materia, HQ gear can take you along pretty easy.

At high lvl is when things get interesting, and by interesting i mean hard.

People used to do CM runs to lvl up their bonded gear, the 1 star gives you the coveted rank 4 materia which also sells for oodles of gil, or the lvl 48 gear can also give you rank 3 which is not so bad and it can be gotten faster.

I do WP runs with lvl 48 gear, and i get a few materia every day if I keep making gear and spiritboding it.

The best way's to spirit bind level 50+ gear atm is

Make a group just to spirit bond and run CM and don't deactivate the search lights and farm as much ttash as possible and dilberately stand in search lights. The second you run out of constant streams of trash, leave and go back inside and do it again.
