Am I the only one troubled by the Pet Hotbar?

I have the gamepad UI but activate a few action bars and use keyboard and mouse for whm and arcanist. I suppose it's a workaround since I don't even have access to the pet action bar. I know you can choose when to display the cross bar, not sure if you can have it always hidden.

I really wish we could have like 3 buttons on my bar that change depending on what I have summoned.

I certainly don't have the keybinds for every single move that every pet makes. Even just removing the auto-attacks, that's roughly 9 buttons.

I also agree with the above poster. Warlock pet control is WoW is much easier than here. Hade little trouble keybinding everything.

I like that they have one button for the pet's signature attack, but I wish it was like that for all of them.

I currently have three buttons keybound for EOS, and I don't want to have to keybind another three for Selene, another three for Ifrit, etc.

Hiya, it's not too bad, just takes a little getting used to.

While you can't customize it, you can bind it. The last 4 are the only ones that change really, all the other ones stay the same like sic, obey, etc.

I have mine setup like this:

[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] <- this is the Pet Bar

*Not sure which ones are Place, Follow and Steady but lets say Place is 4, Follow is 3 and Steady is 7*

3= Ctrl + =
4 = Ctrl + 2
7 = Ctrl + 1

9 = F1
10 = F2
11 = Ctrl + F1
12 = Ctrl + F2

*9, 10, 11 and 12 are your pets' specials. BUT those key binds will never change so Silence on Selene will be 10 and Whispering Wind on Eos will be 10 too which means on my set up both will use F2. These settings will also Spill over to SMN pets too.*

You can bind from your Options menu. I can post a picture of mine when I get home if you guys would like to give you an idea. . haha I might not be making sense.

Being a gamepad player, I just turned the thing off and manually added the important pet commands into one of the layers I scroll through.

Something I recommend to ALL pet class players that use a gamepad.

I actually prefer the companion bar in SWTOR to pet hot bars

The one thing I could use over everything else in the game is the ability to scale the entire UI and the ability to change the hotbars layout (horizontal/vertical, half width but double stacked, add or remove number of slots).

First of all, over half the button on it I don't use or i rarely click.
The ones I use, its easier to use it on your normal hotbar by putting it there

Pet hotbar cannot be customized
Pet hotbar cannot be invisible (right click on layout does nothing)
Pet hotbar cannot go away (option in character config does not work...)

I hope we get a fix soon, because as a scholar / arcanist / summoner, i cannot imagine you not using your pet...

The pet bar can be disabled so you are wrong.

The pet hotbar is a POS through and through, but I guess that's understandable given that the class is new... and I don't think SE has ever done a game with a pet/companion UI before. It feels more like when they were trying out other MMOs, they saw the classes with pets but didn't fully grasp the importance of hotkeys with them. Then again, the pet commands aren't THAT important to concern yourself with... and you can hotkey the abilities anyway I believe.
