    [Audio] Ambient Sound Issue Adjustment

Just a quick post I did a search and didn't see anything on this topic but I know it is an issue for everyone. When you enter the volume options within the game you can turn off everything but it does not turn off ambient sounds.

I know alot of people like to turn off the audio sometimes to listen to their own music but the ambient sounds still remain and at least for me it overpowers the audio so I just wanted to bring it to the teams attention as maybe something that could be adjusted.

    Thanks

I agree, the ambient sounds need to be integrated with the Sound Effect Slider, or be given its own slider.

That's definitely needed. Sometimes I mute my speakers altogether or place the game as a background application just to avoid it. There are times when I'd like to hear the rest of the sounds & music at the level I've set them at, but then the nearby door keeps opening & closing and I just can't take it anymore = D

You can adjust this in the FFXIV Config(Out of game). General -> Sound -> [] Disable Sound Device.

This disables your audio altogether which I personally do not wish to do.I personally play in windowed mode so I like to turn off the audio to listen to music while I grind alone but if I am playing with a group I usually use the ingame audio.

Correct, but it solves the problem for the time being. It's annoying to have to log out each time you want to listen/stop listening to your own music, and I hope they fix it soon. But they have a long list of simple fixes ahead of that.

Devs have already answered this issue and pretty much said because of how it is mixed they can't adjust it. I'll dig around and see if I can find the thread.

Unfortunately, the volume settings for those sounds aren't separated out in a way that makes them adjustable. In the future, the team is planning to update it so that it is separate; however, there are other things that are higher priority for the development team work wise, so it will take a bit of time to take care of this.
    I'll be waiting!

Just a note for Win 7 users.

You can click on your Sound Mixer and mute only XIV (or any other program).
I find I use this more often than tweaking sound options in-game (due to ambient noise issue).

I like the music & sounds in cut scenes so I just toggle it on for that.
Toggle it off to watch Netflix while I craft/fish/ "play" the game.
