The Core Programming strikes again!
I begin to get the feeling that SE put their 1st string Crystal Tools programmers on FFXIII, and used their 2nd string for FFXIV. And that their 2nd string just haxed the coding so bad its affecting everything. So now 1st string is in a mad rush to fix code in time for the rest of the Dev Team to start implementing new content. Their laying railroad tracks with the train right behind them.
I have nothing to substantiate any of this. It's just a feeling.
Wouldn't be surprised.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
Yea I totally get this feeling too. I can imagine stuff being coded sloppily to get things done and it just made the game harder to work on now. Then the whole thing just got out of hand and they're cleaning up certain things at the core level so the future work will be easier. The Core Programming strikes again!

This is just my hope, but at this point nothing SE does can surprise me (short of a positive update).

I love your analogy of laying tracks right in front of the train. That strikes me as (truth of seas). The Core Programming strikes again!

You can't give a strict time-line if you don't have one. With the enormous amount of updates that FFXIV needs, priorities get switched around A LOT. And if Yoshi-P was to say "We'll fix it by August!" and then failed to meet that expectation, there would be 10 threads of people bitching about it.
That said, thanks for making sure this suggestion reached the Dev team, Rukkirii.

The problem with that argument is I'm not even asking for a strict timeline. Despite the fact that it's something that should have been in the Alpha version, it'd be pretty cool if they said "by the end of the year" instead of "the future". Given their track record, it wouldn't be unsafe to assume that "the future" means years from now.You can't give a strict time-line if you don't have one. perhaps they can't give a set date as they don't know the date themself as there are more important things that need to be taken care of first.
atleast we now know it's on their list, which we know by now is so huge and filled with things that needs to be fixed, that it's literally impossible to give a straigth answer to every of our question.
when it comes it comes, and most likely we'll get informations on it when it's around the corner, not months away from actually getting fixed.
PS.:
we all know it should have been in the alpha, and that the game shouldn't have released so early yada yada, but shit happens, and now they have to iron out all those nasty bugs, it's just normal that we have to be patient now.
if it leads to a great game experience, it sure is worth the wait as we are playing for free anyways.
anyways, atleast we now get to communicate with the reps/devs. instead of blindly waiting longer for a game that still could have sucked if we would have waited another year for it.

Agreed, it's great that, technically, they're hearing our complaints and that we have a line to them through the reps here... however, can't argue the fact that their response to everything is either "we'll look into it" or "it's being worked on" or "we're planning to work on that" which really isn't alright. I think it's really starting to get to people, myself includedperhaps they can't give a set date as they don't know the date themself as there are more important things that need to be taken care of first.

Their fix speed has been pretty unacceptable so far, and they only stand to lose more players if they keep it up.
Oh boy, core programming issues again.
It almost sounds like it would be easier to blow away the game and recreate it from scratch.

It will eventually happen, they cannot just keep patching such a bad game client. Many MMOs editors make major client change when expansions are being released. Nothing prevents SE of doing the same when PS3 version will arrive.
