In-Game Configuration Tool

What's sad is that I had a friend who didn't even know where the graphics settings were.

Friend: "I wish I could change my anti-aliasing settings."
Me: "You can. It's in the external configuration."
Friend: "External configuration?"

And he had started in closed beta with me.

I have to wonder how many other people don't even know about or bother with the external config. It's a really outdated setup and needs to be integrated into the in-game configuration. You shouldn't have to look in two different places.

I find it very sad, even simple things like font you have to log out............

There are MMO's in which you can change just about every single setting without restarting, it just rerenders on the spot (causes a little stall for a second but better than relogging)

I say if 1 game/studio can do it, there is absolute no reason another cannot and its inexcusable to not have these as standard.

But it probably wont come for a while, due to XIV's bad design/development and it will be related to the whole DirectX loss.

Sad but true. And to be honest, I would rather have the ability to tab out of full screen first. Though, the two issues are probably related.

All really great points here and we submitted your concerns to the dev. team. They informed us that they are aware that this is a large problem and in order to add an in-game configuration tool they will need to fix the core programming-related data first. The dev. team wanted us to let you know that they will take care of it but cannot give a specific time frame at the moment.

They wanted to let us know the same thing they've let us know about literally every major gripe everyone has ever had with this game? We'll fix it, but we don't know when.

The Core Programming strikes again!

I begin to get the feeling that SE put their 1st string Crystal Tools programmers on FFXIII, and used their 2nd string for FFXIV. And that their 2nd string just haxed the coding so bad its affecting everything. So now 1st string is in a mad rush to fix code in time for the rest of the Dev Team to start implementing new content. Their laying railroad tracks with the train right behind them.

I have nothing to substantiate any of this. It's just a feeling.
