    Notorious Monsters. Will we be seeing them again? (outside the F.A.T.E. system)

    Any chance we will be seeing these rare spawn monsters in ARR. My friends and I had a lot of fun hunting down NMs during 1.0 or are we just stuck with the same F.A.T.E. monsters (which are boring).

    Zerging F.A.T.E. monsters are not fun after a while. Fighting a challenging, rare spawning monster is a great way of solo/group challenges.

    What do you guys think?

    For those that don't know what Notorious Monsters are. They are monsters that spawned in a group of normal monsters, but have significantly higher stats/skills compared to their counterparts. Monsters could be taken down in a party or solo(in some cases).

    I absolutely hope so! I find the current lack of world content in XIV pretty lack luster honestly. In 1.0, being able to go out and find random NMs in the world and get unique gear was such a cool feature. A feature I feel worked very well. Sadly, this game lacks unique gear (which is another thing that kills me) so I'm not sure how they would implement this. This is definitely a feature that should have been around since launch though. I find it odd how many great things from 1.0 they took out of the game for 2.0 for literally no reason. I would be shocked if they didn't slowly add these features back. In specific though, I feel NMs need a complete overhaul in this game. It's sad to see NMs turned into spam fests (for the most part) that offers little to no challenge. The minions some drop are cool, but minions don't hold a candle to gear for me and I'm sure plenty of other people feel this way.

    Please Yoshi! Bring NMs back to their former glory!

    Yes, and I can see all the bots camping their spawn points for all the goodies they may drop(If they're sellable), or the angry shouting of someone who got to it first. Now, there was a thread that someone made a while ago with the "hunt" system from XII, or maybe it was a combo of that and open world dungeons... Anyway, it'd actually be nice to have a sort open world dungeon area that you go into with a group(or by yourself) to undertake a task, wherein you may encounter a NM. It's not guaranteed, but it may be there and drop you goodies if you prove able to kill it. It'd be "phased" for you in the same manner a Levequest mob would be. No grievances of having to deal with people yanking your shit, no name calling. Unless of course that's what you wanted.

    I remember back in classic FFXI when i'd be riding along on my chocobo to some quest of some sort and an odd named monster would catch my eye. I'd do a check on it and then i'd get that great thrilling feeling when I saw it come up as "Impossible to gauge.". I didn't care what it dropped or if it'd 1 shot me. I HAD to get off my chocobo in the middle of nowhere and fight it. The thought that it could actually drop something besides 6 Gil or an earth crystal was great and that it could have attacks I have never seen before was so thrilling. I really miss those moments of random NM encounters. Even those ones that one shot me. XD

    There is no claim system in the game, so it wouldn't work out all too well. Even if you wanted to solo it, someone else could come by and think you'd like help and engage, at which point you'd have to both fight it and have an angry discussion about "Go away, I'm soloing".

    And this is if they had no loot. If they had loot, you'd just see everyone zerg it because the zergiest person gets the loot.

    If everyone promises to not QQ on the forums the moment they get out-claimed, sure, there would be NM's again

    But right now, ppl QQ on the forums even when they get out-claimed on REGULAR monsters... so yeah...nope.

    Too many ppl who dont enjoy contested content - too many ppl who dont enjoy sharing content either - so unless you have an idea for NMs that doesnt involve them being contested nor shared... good luck!

    Didnt play V1 or FFXI so cant comment on those super monsters/NMs (whatever their called) but I like the idea, as someone else mentioned I'd also like to see some kind of Hunt System like XII in here. I got obessed with the hunts on XII ramped up a 168hrs on first/only time through and still didnt get everything lol.

    Where would these NM's be placed? Theres not room for them, the zones are all too small.

    Perhaps for next ex-pack they'll create bigger zones or expand existing one a little - Im not sure whats possible since i dont know how ARR was built. For example the zones-areas seem a lot bigger now then they did during P3, certainly their a lot more detailed and fleshed out that was the first thing that struck me on open beta, so perhaps they is a way to expand existing zones and add new ones down the line.

    Or they could have semi-instanced battles like with the single player quests where you examine something and it triggers the battle instance, only playable with a 4-8 player options.

    If they did introduce Notorious Monsters, if they treated them like Levequest monsters (only the person who activates it or in this case the first person who engages the target can hit it), it would work out.
