I heard they were adding a new race at some point

Viera was in final fantasy tactics its been a long time race in the final fantasy franchise. You say you don't want stuff borrowed from other games, yet the main races for this game are direct rip offs of FFXI different names and additional gender options but thats it. Not to mention FF13 2 lightning returns or whatever events coming, not to mention dragon quest events coming so meh.

Personally I would love a viera dragoon or a vierra thief/assassin/ninja if they ever released those classes. Just my 2 cents

I personally would rather they not add Viera. Not that I hate the race or anything. My preference is because we already have one slender pretty race with some animal parts for flavor. I personally would like to see something a bit more bestial. The Qsiti or Yama from Last Remnant would be cool. Or if we want to stick with just FF series games the Bangaa and Nu Mou.

It might be a bit too close to the cat-themed Miqo'te, but the Ronso would be a nice previous FF race to add. They might be too big though, even a large Roegadyn would be about the size of Kimahri, who was considered small for a Ronso.

If they wanted to draw from past games there are over 100 races to choose from http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Races . Personally I would love to see Ronso in this game. Not only are they badass in every way, they look cool too. There are already female versions of them too so no struggling with character design for both sexes.

Yoshi has stated about wanting to add some sort of dragon/lizard race. I'd really like to see playable goblins or SOMETHING with a less humanoid body type.

Personally I'd like to see players being able to play Qirqin or rogue beastmen (Kobolds are just fantastic).
Qirqin would make more sense though, since they're already there and would make quite good adventurers if you just gave them... the Thief job!
