Ever feel like someone is out to get your job in the party?

So, I've been working on leveling Scholar recently, to take a break from my Dragoon, since I'm getting closer to 50 and I just unlocked Stone Vigil earlier today. Everything was smooth sailing until suddenly... I was paired up in a party with a Summoner that decided he was going to be the healer instead of me. I basically went into the first group of enemies and attempted to heal the tank and my fairy was doing the same, but he healed him before we did and I ended up wasting MP.

I told him that he didn't need to worry about healing since my fairy and I had it covered, and that he should just focus his MP on DPS, yet he insisted that he can heal and his MP was fine. He also claimed he had it set in a macro and didn't want to change it. Now, don't get me wrong... Extra help with keeping the tank alive is all well and good.

I just hate wasting MP healing someone who, well... Doesn't need to be healed. The guy was so random too. I'd let the tank's health drop to 80%, 70%, then 60% and think he was going to pop a heal any second, but he wouldn't, yet other times he would. I never knew when he was going to heal, so it made things rather complicated. I'd see someone else take damage, so I'd go to heal them, but he would get to them first, then the next thing I know... The tank has taken more damage than he should have because both of us were focused on healing one person (who was fully healed by the time I even healed him thanks to the Summoner).

Honestly, it was hurting more than helping since it was throwing off my rhythm, ya know? I didn't know who to heal any more or when. It would be one thing if this was an 8 man party, but it wasn't. This isn't the first time something like this has happened though.

Even when running AK with my DRG in full DL gear with a relic +1, if I encounter another DRG in the party, 9 times out of 10 it feels like they are trying to "dethrone" me as the DRG, in a manner of speaking, and be the better DRG. I have also seen some tanks fighting over who can be main tank and such in 8 many parties.

How do you feel when someone is trying to get the better of you at your own job or attempting to make you feel like you're not as beneficial to the party as you think you are? As the primary healer, I personally felt insulted that he didn't trust me enough to heal the party properly and felt the need to step in and heal at random intervals. I get kind of the same way when the tank stops what he's doing to cast cure on a random party member instead of leaving it to me.

So yeah, what do you guys think about the matter? Do you feel threatened when someone steps on your turf or do you welcome the help with open arms?

DPS should DPS, Healers should heal, tanks should tank. If 1 does something differenly, they are on the wrong class.

Oh.. if someone wants to be a try hard it doesn't really bother me personally.

If you give someone enough rope they will either hang themselves or surprise you, either way it doesn't take long to get to one of those conclusion's.

So all in all, if you think you can do better than me, so be it, let's see it and if you can't, well you can just "hang back and stretch"..either way I get my job done the best I can.

Nope I haven't, but in party play you should do your overall role of your Job. If you don't it just confuses people. That's my opinion.

I really don't let it bother me honestly. Anyone who has ever come off as arrogant or has a piss poor attitude simply cannot be reasoned with and is not worth the time or the headache.

If they want to fuel their e-peen and put someone down or try-hard for a high parse than so be it. I'm gonna do my job the best I can and if I'm doing it poorly, you're not going to fix it by telling me to uninstall.

Oh, don't get me wrong. As a healer/scholar I'm doing DPS whenever I'm not healing, but... The DPS is garbage compared to actual DPS classes damage. It's not as if I'm trying to do their job for them.

I just felt it was a little insulting for this Summoner to keep jumping in and randomly healing, like I didn't know what I was doing or something. His heart was in the right place, I'm sure, but something about it just irked me because as I said before... It kept throwing off my rhythm because he wasn't healing all the time and I've been doing fine with keeping parties alive so far. Yeah, normally a Scholar doesn't have to even worry about MP due to Aetherflow and Energy Drain, but I was still wasting MP whenever I'd spend the MP needed to heal him and end up restoring less than 100 HP because of the Summoner's heal.

I don't think any healer likes being wasteful with their heals.

Back up healers are a good thing when they are needed. If a summoner tries to play the full role of a healer, it leaves the actual healer with not much to heal, except either waiting for an opening to heal or do nothing and let him do all the work. However it also leaves a big gap in DPS causing slower kills.

Players can play how they want, just when you see things going slower, and wondering why it's taking awhile to kill mobs, that's why. :P

I felt like that when I was in halatali as a cnj with my friend as an acn.
When we got to the first boss, she wasn't even dealing with the adds. "oh but i was, my carby was on it".
Yeah, sure for the first add, after that he went straight back to attacking the boss. I had to completely drop heals to deal with it because nobody was.
The whole run was annoying because I just dps'd. I felt unneeded.
