Final Fantasy XIV is like a low end restaurant. The place is a bit of a dive. The food isn't that great and the service is lousy.
But if your in that restaurant with a good bunch of friends you can still have a decent time.
Not to different from a lot of peoples day jobs I guess. Your job can be terrible but if you work with good people it can become so much better.
Think it's a fairly common opinion in XIV as well. Seems to be one of the deciding factors of how long new players stick around for. Whether or not they make decent social connections.
Edit:- should pay more attention to dates...

i mean if youre not enjoying something and find it boring no one is forcing you to play. FFXIV is still going strong with sub fees and new expansions so its just you.
If you played XI, then came to XIV due to XI, I can see why the game would be "Boring."
There is no BST; that was my main in XI. So I am kinda bouncing through jobs like "Meh..."
Summoner is kind of different too, so I am kind of thrown off. Bored my be too strong of a word, but I enjoy other mmo more due to them having true pet classes.
I only played pet classes, & "Bored" is subjective which is why I left it open to debate by saying "I can see why the game would be boring" as opposed to saying "The game is boring if you played XI."
I like the combat, the monsters, the animations, but my main jobs are not in the game as a former FFXI player.
It's clear you're a new player, so here's some brutal honesty for you. This game is boring as hell for your first 50 levels. It really is. The ARR content just drags on, no classes really get good rotations, it sucks. It gets a little better in Heavensward, then better again in Stormblood, and it shines in Shadowbringers.
Once you actually get to endgame there's a lot to do. Raiding alone becomes enough of a challenge to keep some people busy. Low level crafting sucks, but at 80 you start making real money and it's fun.
Yeah, the BLM rotation is mind numbing but you also need to focus 3x as much on moving as anyone else. Your skills want you to stand still, the bosses force you to move. Standing still and doing it is easy, avoiding a barrage of mechanics while maintaining top dps against classes who are allowed to move and attack is a struggle.
This is a necro, op likely doesnt even play anymore. They've been level 50 since like 2013...
I find it interesting that the first few pages of posters are mostly players whos mains are still stuck at level 50. Both defenders of the game and those claiming its boring in ways and needs improvement. Its as if they all quit of boredom during ARR. ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ
Game does have some issues in some places, in my opinion. I dont enjoy grouping up for dungeons/raids/etc on repeat. Its incredible experiencing a duty for the first few times but then I lose interest. I would like an expansion on the hunts and other single player systems. More hunts per day would be amazing. Also would like to see different types of postings. Instead of just Boss tier single targets, we could get kill x amount of a monster quests. Imagine the quest/hunting board in Monster Hunter or an isekai type manga. Sometimes they like you to gather stuff and sometimes there are bads attacking a defenseless village/town. I actually enjoyed Leves for this reason, the variety they bring, but I needed the allowances for crafters and dol so I rarely ever used them for combat and by the time I do finish my doh/dol. My combat classes will be too high to bother doing them for the xp. I had heard that they didnt even add any Leves for combat in ShB. Though i havent bothered to look for myself so I could be misinformed. If they added some for ShB and added nice rewards to them it would be amazing.(Maybe tomes and gil?) Fates could also fill this hole a bit, but are a bit too infrequent and the rewards just arent there. Exp rates are trash compared to dungeons and roulettes.
Fishing needs more purpose and the materials needed for some crafts are way too much.(cul/ltw esp OTL) Give us a fishing competition. Give us more randomized loot drops like chests that have random contents on the inside. There needs to be a better way to get skins and meats. The drop rates are awful. A hunter DoL would be great. Set traps near mobs and if they walk over the trap, they disappear and the trap changes to look "closed." We would click the trap to get materials or maybe a corpse? Turn that corpse into materials by skinning and disassembly for fangs and the like.
The gold saucer is also a huge disappointment. I LOVE the Air Force One GATE. I LOVE the mini cactpot. I could play both for hours at a time. However one is gated behind a timer and the other a daily limit. All of the other minigames, the small ones, are free to do indefinitely but are boring and provide such little reward that they become pointless. Chocobo racing is almost a dead activity. Again I love it. I cant say much about it beyond wishing that more people played. LoV is dead. I see 3-5 players on the tournament board each tourney. XD
Simply put, I feel like the gold saucer could be a blast if they just tweaked it a little bit.
Timed content is horrid. I hate it with every fiber of my being. If somebody wants to have max tome gear on week one, let them. Why should we care? Because they will get ahead of people with Jobs/family/etc? Dont forget we have crafted gear. You can get that in less than a day if you want and have the gil for it. Somebody is always going to be ahead of somebody else. Timed gates try to fix it but still dont completely and in the end just spoil the fun for some of us.
All of the things written here are opinions and I know somebody disagrees and that's fine. I rather enjoyed venting these frustrations of mine and thanks for reading.

Thread should have ended with this reply. I don't know why people are desperate to keep a thread alive for the sake of controversy.
This.
