my only problem with this game is that it feels slow, but im not talking about the entire game such as combat or gathering, those feel justified to be slow, and people are right when they say combat gets faster as you level.

it has a lot of unnecessary item requirement bloat for most if not all crafting recipes after heavensward, and im specifically talking about items dropped from mobs, so crafting as a weaver, alchemist, or leatherworker means your going to spend a lot of time farming HQ mob item drops and its only going to get worse as you progress. of course that no longer matters to me, because i found out that crafting is optional and not a requirment, though StormBlood's HQ gear has a very large statistical difference from low quality gear as opposed to HeavensWard and definitely ARR.

there also seems to be no difference in pace inside and outside of combat, gathering, and crafting. im talking about the freedom of the open world. before level 20, you had to sprint from point A to point B with a 20 second sprint and a 10 second CD, but now we still have a 20 second sprint, but a 40 second CD, and i just feel sorry for new players. i also do not see why we cant move while "casting" a mount, and i do not see a reason why sprint is not different outside of combat (though this is confirmed to change in the future). there also seems to be a lot of mobility based abilities within each class, but they each have a very long CD for the sake of them being extremely effective within combat. the pace of the game needs to speed up outside of combat in different forms besides mounts and teleportation in order to make it a proper open world experience, then have the pace slow down to its current form within combat (increase certain ability CD and limitations during combat). basically, besides using mounts and teleportation, everything that applies within combat also applies outside of it, and that just limits what the open world could offer. all i know is that it would be awesome if i could do multiple shukuchi teleports as a traveling ninja, or if i could summon my flying mount as i am free falling.

so i just believe the game is boring because it is very, very slow paced. there's not a lot of "freedom" to give the player outside of combat.

The game has record subs and has exceeded expansion expectations from a dollar perspective. I would say that suggests that many don't agree.

That's a whole lot of PR spin. pre-SB there were only 500-600k ish active subs worldwide. And that "record subs" and 6m number you see flying around is more total accounts than active subscriptions. It did hit higher than expected dollar wise, but that also includes the cash shop which now includes jump potions which are an RMT dream so that brings that up too.

All in all its a lot of PR spin in that to make the game sound more successful than it is. I know there are tons of people who already unsubbed after seeing that SB is just going to be a copy/paste of HW content-wise. So I would love actual current numbers or even numbers in 30 days.

If the numbers where true they wouldn't throw a number out without actual log-in and payment statistics to back it up like other companies provide. All you hear are executives and PR chatter, which is always on high spin.

According to you. What is your spin? The spin that the game is dying and boring. It's not. It might be for some but not for a lot of people. The game in case you haven't noticed is full of green leaves both in world an in dungeons and tons of returner icons. What gets old it the standard the game is boring threads here on this forum.

Sorry I would believe SE before you.

    Sigh.

RMTs do not buy jump potions. Contrary to popular belief, they are banned fairly regularly, thus spending $25-50 on a near weekly basis defeats the entire purpose. There's a reason you never see gil sellers in Foundation, Idllyshire, Rhalgar's Reach or Kugane. Or why Balmung and Gilgamesh never no RMTs whatever.

Why should RMT's use the potion? Not gonna happen...

Record subs? I didn't know they announced sub numbers. The expansion sold well that was reported in some earning report. That in no way means they retained any solid sub numbers. Guess the scrape to see how many people get falcon mount will give a really good idea how many active characters since that can't be hid. But paying subs will be lower then number of Flying Falcons, unless I missed something all alts will get it like any vet reward.

The only thing I find riduculously boring is crafting and gathering. If I could level them while leveling a combat class, I'd be all over them. But having to switch to the job, and spend a ton of time just staring at a meter is mind-numbing to me. And the system is designed so that you can't even really just level one class without having to delve into all the others (without spending ridiculous amounts of gil on thr market board).

I was only able to level fishing because I could cast and play games on my phone while just listening for the sound of a fish pulling to reel it in.

I'm still going to attempt mining and botany after fishing is maxed (just three more levels, thank goodness).

But I enjoy the combat and the fights are well-done, as is the story.

If he's not happy with it, he's not happy with it.

But...this is what a gear-gate themepark MMO IS: the developers release content updates, we buy them, play through them, then we either grind at the endgame gear wall through raids, or we unsub.

XIV has generally more to do than WoW does, and it would have MUCH more to do if they got off their duffs and gave us a glamour log so we could run old raids/dungeons specifically with the purpose of collecting glamour appearances for our logs.

I mean, I'm ALL for more stuff to do in an MMO, but you need to put it in perspective. If you want a sandbox MMO experience, for example, you're just not gonna find it in FFXIV.
