How To: Maximize Your DPS as Dragoon

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpB3rfdBgtk

This is a rotational video showcasing how to output max DPS using a Dragoon.

    ::ROTATION::
    (Cycle 1)
    Heavy Thrust
    Leg Sweep

    Blood for Blood
    Impulse Drive
    Power Surge

    Disembowel
    Chaos Thrust
    Jump

    Phlebotomize
    Internal Release

    True Thrust
    Vorpal Thrust
    Life Surge
    Full Thrust
    Dragonfire Dive

    (Cycle 2)
    Heavy Thrust
    Leg Sweep

    Impulse Drive
    Disembowel

    True Thrust
    Vorpal Thrust
    Full Thrust
    Spineshatter Dive

    Phlebotomize

    (Cycle 3)
    Heavy Thrust
    Impulse Drive
    Leg Sweep

    Disembowel
    Chaos Thrust

    True Thrust
    Vorpal Thrust
    Full Thrust
    Jump

    ::TIPS::
    1) This is NOT a static Rotation, there are times where you'll need to use your own wits to figure out what to fit in based on the situation.

    2) Fracture is a near-useless ability. Do not use this if you wish to maximize your DPS output.

    3) What this rotation does is allow you to be more versatile. There are times when full-ability setups are not possible, leading to DPS loss for the time you take to setup a rotation far too convoluted.

    4) There is less reliance on DoTs as DoTs for a DRG isn't quite potent as it should be in comparison to other classes.

    5) This also utilizes combos more frequently, allowing a DRG to DPS as it is supposed to - A spike DPSer.

    6) In addition, the rotation would change every cycle, so one would have to be aware of their current priority.

    7) For example, HT must always be kept up and PH should benefit from it at all times. DS should also be kept up but CT DoT can fall off occasionally due to its low potency.

Informative video and this is certainly what I'll be looking at when I hit 50 on my Dragoon :]. Longnu is the best DRG I know so it would be wise to give their videos at least a look. I implore other dragoons to try out the rotation that is there and see if there is an improvement.

Hmm ... haven't done the math, but I somehow doubt that this rotation yields better DPS than the rotations from the "A Rotation Reborn" thread, especially when reading things like "CT DoT can fall off occasionally due to its low potency" - CT is our single highest potency skill in terms of Potency per GCD and the IDC combo is our highest potency combo, when not clipping the CT DoT, so there are good reasons to aim for maximum uptime of the CT DoT.

As for Fracture, while not being an extraordinary skill, it still is our highest potency/GCD skill without any combo requirements, so in case you need a filler to stretch out your rotation to prevent your rotation from trying to apply a non-buffed PH or CT over a buffed one, this is the skill to go for.

Also disembowel gets reapplied way to early (after its first application there are only 7 GCD moves prior to its re-application, while the buff itself lasts for 30 seconds, which allows for 12 GCD moves before running out). The timing of HT refreshes is also off (most of the tims it's refreshed every 6 GCDs), which means the rotations spends more time on relatively low potency skills (HT) than necessary.

The re-application of PH on the other hand is spaced out too much, which results in quite some downtime of the PH DoT.

The rotation additionally opens up with "HT -> Leg Sweep -> BfB -> ID ... that's two Off-GCD skills in a row, which usually leads to a noticable delay between HT and ID which results in DPS loss (you can actually see the delay in the video, if you look close).

With all those flaws I really can't see how this rotation maximizes DPS output.

    EDIT:
Just noticed that cycle 3 ends with:

    Jump
    True Thrust
    Vorpal Thrust
    Full Thrust
    Jump

How the hell do you use Jump only 3 GCDs after its last use? Something's not working out here.

Parser dependency isn't completely accurate, but for what it's worth, this rotation I posted does more than the other one consistently. You can try it yourself. Take her for a spin and try it out. I parse in the 300s with this rotation - 310, 317, 320ish on average. The standard cookie cutter in the other thread caps out at 284. Please, test it for yourself and try it out The point of this rotation is flexibility and more reliance on getting combos out faster. This is the rotation I use for maximum DPS. As the cycles go on, the rotation keeps changing so it will be interesting to find new ways to even improve it further as I believe such is possible. Sidenote: DS is a hard hitting ability, which is why it is used in clipping motion.

Love that you swerved his question completely...

Interesting seeing the differences between this rotation and the one posted on this thread:

You know that you're going to have to provide logs if you want us to believe you, right ?
And on a 5-7 minutes fight, not just after BfB finishes.

Just for reference, parsers are wildly inaccurate, so complete dependency on them is unwise. This has been tested by my FC several times. The best way for the most accurate results is to test it yourself and find out what works best for you. I've shown you what I did. You can make your own comparisons / conclusions based on your own tests. In my findings, this rotation does more DPS than the cookie-cutter (parsed) and is far less convoluted. The most obvious hint is seeing just how much faster bosses die.

Parsers must be wildly inaccurate if you say you're parsing in the 300's.

That's the ideal you depend on, not me. Either way, this rotation does more than the other one with parsers. You can go check it yourself .
