River of Blood proc question. Can I remove Venomous Bite from my hot bar?

What I do to maximize RoB proc:
Straight Shot up, Internal Release if available, Windbite/Venomous Bite on the mob.

    Assumption:
I have both WB & VB up, more chance of critting. Even if WB does not crit, VB might and I could have RoB proc.

    How FFXIV treats DoTs:
    - All DoTs tick on a predetermined interval
    - All DoTs damages are combined into single tick
This means I see 1 tick every 3 sec showing combined dmg of all DoTs.

What is the logic to determine "Critical" DoT?
2 logics I can think of:

    Logic 1)
Crit is caclulated per DoT applied. If multiple DoTs are applied, each has chance to crit, thus increasing overall crit chance.

    Logic 2)
Crit is calculated per tick. Regardless of how many DoTs are applied, crit/normal is based on the tick itself and not per DoT. This means applying VB after WB adds no value for crit chance.

In Logic 1, what happens if only WB crit but not VB? Is the tick still concidered crit? Or both WB and VB have to crit for chance of RoB?

If Logic 2 is true, then I'm going to move VB to the side bar. I will simply use WB on multiple mobs and only toss in VB for boss fights.
The more I think about this, I can’t think of any reason to keep VB on main hot bar. Regardless of how the game calculate dot crit, wouldn’t it be safer to simply apply WB to multiple mobs?

Sorry if this has been talked about already, I couldnt find any answer by googling so I'm posting it here..

Each individual DoT can crit but it is still lumped in with the big number every 3s(server time).

And even if it weren't, you would still be using both since they're higher potency than the alternatives.

You only have a few attacks you can even use on GCD as Bard.

    Windbite: 330 total potency/2.5s GCD
Venomous Bite: 310 total potency/2.5s GCD
    Heavy Shot: 150 potency/2.5s GCD
Straight Shot: 140 potency/2.5s GCD (210 theoretical potency on a crit proc)

Venomous Bite is second only to Windbite, and more importantly, even if Heavy Shot procs a Straight Shot, a crit Straight Shot is less total damage than a non-crit Venomous Bite, so you shouldn't replace it in an effort to get more procs if that was your intent.

Venomous Bite should in no way ever leave your hot-bar. Even against trash, it's more efficient to multi-DoT than it is to just focus fire enemies who won't live through the total duration of VB.
