This is a sort of thing I'd expect them to acknolwedge on their website but I'm not finding any news about it. But I also can't imagine why anyone would make something like that up either.

Google isn't giving me anything either. OP probably just saying that to help solicit donations. I guess that's not a bad thing but why not extole on the virtues of this good charity instead?

I rather do like a Saint. Jude or a charity that's well known.

Extra Life is a well known charity; you shouldn't shy away from donating to it, but I reccommend you do it of your own volition rather than through a link to solicit donations on someone else's behalf.
