The resolution on that image is too low, it hurts my eyes to read it
Instead in XIV once you've opened the chest, you cant open it again and you move onto the next one, open it, and cant open it again. So you wait 7 days till reset and repeat! (specifically turns, figure no other cheat is of importance).
Wish I could buy keys and not be paying a monthly sub for content I can do 4 times during that sub.
The resolution is more than fine
Okay, so I pay real money to activate a random number generator where I "might" win something nice, but usually won't. Sounds like gambling to me.
The reason why I like FFXIV, despite the shortcomings
Shit like this doesn't happen.

So here's a thought:
Is it legal to have them in the game if gambling is illegal?
If not, which location's law takes priority?
The users' location, the servers' location, or the companys' localized location?

Seems like pretty much all of the F2P games do this, it always drove me nuts.
They would even have rare and highly desired items that only came from lock boxes and no other way. Plus they would have a bunch of them eat up your inventory.
Sadly I bit on a few and was disappointed 99% of the time, especially since that "rare OMG" items had a .0000001% chance of dropping.
This is one of the best reasons I prefer P2P it is cheaper in the end if you want to progress anywhere.
Some will say you can get all of that stuff through shops at the market, however to reach the amount of currency someone charges without spending a dime would require so much time endlessly grinding (much more than what you do for darklight). The games have to be designed to generate new weekly revenue (hence new lock boxes every week. (and lots of rehashes).
