    I preferred FFXI's collision detection. Sure you got stopped by things, but if you kept pushing for a second or two, you could walk through them.

    I don't see why this approach wasn't used in FFXIV. Its really the best of both worlds.
    Well it was in the game since beta, but then the first thing Yoshi did was remove mob behaviour and collision detection because "he just felt like it."

    And then he increased mob size "because he just felt like it".

    Basically, Yoshi's mentality is the more unrealistic the better.

    Maybe that's why we can't jump too, because it would be too realistic.

    No. He removed it because people were complaining about it. Most MRD's were complaining about hitting mobs they shouldn't because they didn't know how to control their AoE or because goats/dodos/monkeys were following them.
