No, it looks as it should look. Just because it's not attractive to you doesn't mean it's not how it should be.
Have you ever seen the animations BEFORE they messed it up? THere is alot to do with animations. Specially with archery. You know, your knees bend. You can crouch, when you pull your bow father back your feet need more grip on the ground and you lean more back. Man players have no sense of creativity.You ever done Archery? You plant your feet in a solid stance, and you do not shuffle around while trying to take your shot.
So there isn't really a lot they can do with it. If the include the legs in weird animations to go alog with the top half, you get the weird sliding around again.
It's kinda hilarious when i get knocked back right as i launch a Dragon Kick or Demolish. just keep doing the animation in its entirety while sliding backwards/forwards, lol.
and yes i have done archery, and yes i played NUMEROUS games as an archer class. And i can say after people complained about sliding while animating, they turned off the lower half of the animations. I wish i could show you what they originally looked like.

The original animations were perfect, then people complained.
Those are examples; some rough crappy sketches. The animations could be dramatized if it wasnt for people going on about the sliding while you animate.
I would happily Slide again for nicer animations.
I got used to it by now but I really miss my fluid Version 1 Animations.
It doesn't seem like I'm the only one that has a problem with the animations. Just saying some things I think need some improvement. No need to get all negative Nancy on me.
Still an issue in 2020! Coming to Archer for the first time, the animations are TERRIBLE. The bizarre flailing jelly arms and the look like the upper torso is a robot jammed onto an unresponsive pair of legs is just so JARRING!
They're bad alone, but when compared to other classes and even enemies in the game? This is an embarrassment! I can only imagine this issue was put on the backburner and then forgotten, but it's still hideous.

everytime i need to run back because enemy doing large aoe, my char just face the other way and still doing attack animation while its clear it was aiming completely different way it still count as hit, it look ridiculous lol
technically if you do a hard lock on (i forgot the config but it was there in option setting), your character will run in backward motion if you go the opposite direction of your target, but this method decrease your movement speed by half i think because... well its a proper running in backward.
now if only they get rid of that 50% movement speed penalty, i would love to keep using that hard lock on
