All attacks do 0 until the shields get popped. The damage you're dealing is going against the shield, not simply being nullified. The one place where I can honestly say SMN is bad or well worse then other classes is on turn 4 since our dots does 0 dmg to the knight and soldier untill the shields are popped which is really bad if you ask me. But this is something the developers should fix as I for one think the SMN dmg should count as magic dmg not as non magic or physical dmg because that is just strange
This isn't true. I've a SMN whose cleared turn 4 about 5 maybe 6 weeks in a row, and I have soldiers down to 50-75% HP before shields break. So that is entirely not true.
I've compared my gear to your gear as a SMN, while you have more crit rate then me currently (that allagan book helps a ton xD) I have more Det, and int (base spell damage is higher) and not including twin fight, with just Raging Strikes, Food, Int pot, and NON battle voiced Foe Requiem. Im only seeing 1750 crits. So are you suggesting that BV FR adds about 250 damage?
Does Crit Hit Rate also affect crit damage %?
I'm not suggesting anything. I don't know the exact damage difference in a BV'd foe req vs non BV'd. The last update to your gear I seen has you at 18 det below me, and but yes a few more int. I don't know what food or pots you use either. However, I have crit multiple times for well over 1750 without any boss mechanics adding to my damage. They probably were BV'd foe req's. I don't ask my bard to tell me when he is using BV every time.I've compared my gear to your gear as a SMN, while you have more crit rate then me currently (that allagan book helps a ton xD) I have more Det, and int (base spell damage is higher) and not including twin fight, with just Raging Strikes, Food, Int pot, and NON battle voiced Foe Requiem. BV adds roughly another 10% in damage, so if you're doing 1200 non-crit, 1800 crit, BV would put you in the realm of 2k.
Yeah, and some people are still saying that SMN dont have any kind of burst... Oh wait...

This is a bit off topic but it was brought up in the thread. I'm honestly surprised everyone hasn't realized this, but SMN DoTs don't do damage to the Soldiers until Stoneskin is popped. Ruin, Fester, and pet damage (I think) still works and that is why even with Stoneskin on the Soldier we still do some damage to them.
Back on topic the only real trouble Summoner has on Twintania that I have personally experienced is Dreadknights. It isn't too much of an issue when the dreadknight picks a ranged, but if the OT or a melee is selected having essentially only the stun time to kill the Dreadknight can pose some real problems for a Summoner. That again is based solely on what I've personally experienced and I'm certain I can improve my play at that point in the fight still.
