This is a video game, not the real world. "SMN" is good enough when I need to tell you to use LB on something. If you want me to call you Aissy, you should take the time to befriend me and make the relationship more than just two strangers in a dungeon run.Personally I don't like being called 'heals' or '<job>' either and use people's names myself, if you really want to get your message across you should use their names, be respectful. Same as irl, you don't go about saying 'Hey, human, do this.' or 'Hey, <job>, do that.', that would be really weird... and usually those who make up some kind of names for people tend to be assholes. :P
And in case if you don't know the player behind a character, either refer to the character or use 'they' instead of 'he', don't be rude.
So, stepping into the video game world you're one of those who let all manners outside, eh?
And really... if you don't have time to press 2 more keys (1 extra second?), why do you think the other person has time to look on the chat window and read what you typed?
It might be just me but mostly when glancing over the chat 'aissy' catches my attention much better than 'sch'... no, I do not play a summoner.Besides, I was mainly referring to situations when time is not of essence.
Going to agree with this one.
If I start calling people by name, its because I built some kind of friendship/relationship with them. If we're going to be in a party and only talk about battle tactics, to then never see you again or talk to you again... Then yea, job title suffices.
I think the point of this thread though is for people to be more personal in their MMO affairs though. So if you want people to call you by name, try being more personal toward them ^^
