    Crafting question for my Classes

So I'm building my Avatar to be Paladin / Dragon (Not at the same time) but those are the focus I want (And my two favorite classes from the games)

Is there a crafting profession that works well for this? I'm only level 16 Lancer and I'm just going around now getting all the classes so I can flip around easily... I've started taking some heavier armor from quests so power up my Paladin when I get to 15...

Just curious I haven't dived into Crafting yet so any help would be good.

So far I love the game, my WoW time is down to 1 night a week FFXIV is up to 5 nights a week :0

You may consider Blacksmith and Carpenter. Blacksmith is necessary for you to craft and meld the prerequisite for your gladiator relic weapon while carpenter is for your dragoon weapon. It is not strictly necessary though as you can easily find other players who are willing to meld and craft the items for you.

Armorer will provide most of the armor you need for both classes. You may benefit slightly from leatherworker and goldsmith, but your main armor pieces will be from armorer. Culinarian is also a good class in late game as high-end food items will greatly increase your ability to tank and deal damage (finger sandwiches and button mushroom saute). You can always sell the excess for a tidy profit. Also, i would recommend getting as many crafting classes to at least 15 for the cross-class abilities. Those will really help you get high quality items.

I'd recommend leveling them all, for two reasons:

1: In order to synth High-Quality items, it really helps to use cross-class abilities. And making HQ items is one of the main reasons to synthesize things.

2: If you plan on being rather self-sufficient (Another reason to level a craft, and I'm guessing why you're asking which ones would make paladin and dragoon stuff), you'll find that you need to touch on every craft, except maybe culinarian. For example, the blacksmith recipes you use to make swords may require lumber from carpenter, oil from alchemist, cloth from weaver, and so on and so forth. Not to mention your classes themselves will often use items made by a wide variety of disciplines. It's not all metal armor and shiny swords after all. Sometimes it's cloth pants and a wooden macuahuitl.

Hasty Touch, the level 15 Culinarian skill, is one of the most useful cross class skills you can get early in the game.

Just like with combat classes, you can cross class skills for crafting and gathering, so there are benefits to leveling mutiple crafts.

Once you get access to retainers you can store more items and get heavily into crafting. If you level them all and take your time, you can be almost 100% self-sufficient.
