Becoming a crafter after lvl 10

    Olá,
So to become a crafter you need to visit the crafting guilds? Or the quest will evolve in a tutorial way?
Also do you pick all of the crafting classes?

    Thank you

A bit of both you go to the crafting guilds and the first quest you get from them is a bit of a tutorial

When many adults share an imaginary friend, we call it religion and get yelled at when we point out the similarities between points two and three."

Yes, you need to visit the crafting guilds for any crafts you want to level.

And yes, you can unlock & level every crafting class. Along with every other kind of class. There's no disadvantage to getting them all, other than having more equipment to carry around.

I'd actually encourage you to level all the crafters if you decide to craft. There's a lot of synergy between them, both in terms of cross-class skills and materials one can get that another can use.

I was advised to wait until retainers are unlocked, about level 20 I think, as crafting takes a lot of storage space. It's all personal choice though lol.

To unlock an additional class (regardless of whether it's a crafting class or another adventuring class), you go to the guild for the class you want to add and take a quest from the guild receptionist. The first time the receptionist will tell you about the guild. Then talk to them a second time to confirm that you want to join. They'll then send you to talk to the guildmaster, who will give you a starting weapon or tool for that class. At that point, the new class is unlocked.

To change between any classes that you have unlocked, you simply switch your equipped weapon or tool. So if you want to become a carpenter, for instance, you would take this introductory quest to talk to the receptionist and guildmaster at the carpenters' guild, he'll give you a level 1 saw, and when you equip that saw, you'll be a level 1 carpenter.

Each class has to be leveled seperately, so when you take a new class, you'll be level 1 and only able to equip level 1 gear. So don't get rid of low level gear until you've outleveled it in each class for which it's useful. (There are usually a few level 1's running around in their underwear because they didn't keep their starting gear, but each of the starting cities has a vendor who sells duplicates of each race's starting gear to help players who got stuck with that problem. You'll just look less silly if you have the gear ready before you need it rather than running around looking for it later.)

Rhona has a great point. You will quickly see that as you begin to craft the material and items you create in your inventory quickly begin to pile up. Hiring a retainer (or two lol) which is unlocked after the three main dungeons and first primal fight I believe? I started weaving yesterday and already gave Hikaru (my retainer) more hempen yarn than she'll know what to do with.

I believe you can also store stuff at an earlier level at an inn? But I'm not sure about that.

It's after the first three dungeons, but before the Ifrit fight. You gain retainer access from the main storyline quest Scions of the Seventh Dawn, which is a level 17 quest (though it seems most players are a bit above that by the time they get to it).

I agree that you should wait until after getting retainers before getting heavily into crafting, but it can be worthwhile to at least unlock some of the crafting and gathering guilds and start trying it out before then. See how crafting works and make a few pieces that you have an immediate use for yourself, but then stop when your inventory starts to fill up. Go back to it once you have retainers to hold your excess gear.

The armoire in the inn room only holds certain pieces of unique gear. It doesn't, unfortunately, help with crafting supplies.

Some things you can easily do early that will pay off later and won't use up too much inventory is to unlock BTN, MNR, CRP, ARM & BSM. You can mine ores that you can then turn into ingots with Armorer and Blacksmith. And you can harvest logs that you can turn into lumber with Carpenter. All of which you'll need. That all won't take up too much space, and will allow you to get a good head start.
