So I know everyone's hyped about Crystal Tower and acting like it's a beacon for the Eorzean Jesus of Raiding to come down and grant relief from the pains of a lack of content (exaggerating slightly, but that, Wolves' Den and housing are all anyone seems to talk about).
So I wanted to talk about my thoughts on the lesser mentioned content, and get some feedback from the community that might have info or thoughts on some of the things I'll talk about here.
NOTE: This may or may not contain spoilers. So if it does, you've been warned.
-The Beastman Dailies-
One of the things I've noticed seems to be how a lot of players either don't care about this or think it's just going to be "slay X amount of Y beastman race to gain extra tomes". Yet Yoshi-P said this would give us a little more insight into the lives of the beastman tribes. And that got me thinking.... he couldn't possibly mean the Primal-tempered tribes. After all, that'd be flirting with our allegiance to the city-states (since most of them want nothing to do with those tribes, Sylphs being the odd exception).
Then I remembered how many non-violent NPCs we've had via the Goblins and Qiqirn. In addition, while we only have hostile Mamool Ja interactions, there is a FATE where they're seen in rather civilized chat with the Hydaelic races (Hyur/Elezen/Lalas/Qotes/Roegads). Which makes me think - is Yoshi-P planning to expand more on the traditions and cultures of these races, along with perhaps the Sylphs of Little Solace? It would fit, considering that there's a Mamool Ja somewhere in Limsa (where exactly, I forget), and every one of the level 15 leve unlocks have us escorting a member of these races (Goblin for Thanalan, Qiqirn for Limsa, and Sylph for Gridania).
Personally, I'd LOVE it if they did this kind of approach with the quests. I mean, so little was touched upon about my adorable Qiqirni Meesers (a pet name I have for them - seriously, they look so friggin cute and awesome), and while a bit of Goblin interaction was had in XI, it wasn't really taken advantage of to the degree I'dve liked.
Not to mention, there's so little interaction with the Sylphs of Little Solace that I feel like if the settlement doesn't get any real work on it, Yoshi-P might end up having us raze it if he decides to retcon a story-mode Ramuh into the basic story quests (which, while cool it would break my heart to have to murder those guys).
-Pharos Sirius-
This place was part of the quest chain leading into the Garuda fight (after you conquered the dragons of Stone Vigil), and while we weren't able to get inside the place, we know that the place is infected with corrupted crystal spawn (I believe the aetheric type was fire, if I'm not mistaken). It did make me think about Final Fantasy 12 a lot, considering the Pharos Lighthouse was the penultimate dungeon (located in the Jagd of the Ridorana Cataract, making it a tiered-dungeon as well due to how you couldn't just fly inside).
Since it references the Alexandria Lighthouse as well (a real world location), I tried to think of what big baddie might lay in wait as the endboss. Since it's associated with Alexander the Great (whom is one of the more well-known summons in-game), I perhaps thought they might use Alexander, but then I thought.... that'd be too friggin early for such a piece of awesome. So now I'm here trying to think of what else they might add here. Marilith, perhaps? She's the fiend of fire, and we lack anything Lamian, so perhaps it might be her (the aetheric energies of the corrupted crystal spread is fire, after all). Perhaps it could also be Lich, Fiend of Earth - given the fact that skeletons roam the island like nobody's business. I doubt it'd be Kraken or Tiamat, given how both defy the theme of both the dungeon or where it's located.
But I dunno. It'll be interesting to see for sure.
What do you all think? Any info you wanna add? I love a good discussion, especially about lore and content.
