Did you not actually read your own quote? It even says 'optional point allotment'.

Well the thing is that "optional point allotment" could mean two different things.

1. Players have the option to allocate their points, instead of using the automated allotment.
2. Players get optional points to allocate in addition to the automated allotment.

That is where my confusion lies. Is the "system" optional, or is the actual "point" optional?
