I am truly disappointed that the Dev team is planning to "Shift to automated character development based on class rank, with optional attribute point allotment".
The Producer said himself that they want to have a battle system "that rewards effort and innovation"
In my opinion the ability to set my attributes however I like is equivalent to being innovative with the battle system. I can for example be a mage with enough vitality to be able to solo mobs. Or a melee that has enough MP to cure itself. It allows me to be able to do things that are out of the box and innovative.
Removing this freedom to set the attributes however I please will turn this game into a gear based system, where people will be viciously competing for the best gear to modify their set traits. Essentially turning it in to the community of FFXI. Extremely self centered because of the greed over getting gear.
I propose abolishing physical levels as intended, but allowing the point allotment for each class to be customized, and the point allotment would be changed based on what class you switch to.
For example,
I have a rank 20 conjurer, and it only has a total of 200 points that I can put into my stats. I choose to put 50 into vitality and 50 into piety 50 into mind and 50 into intelligence.
When I switch to a rank 10 gladiator I only have a total of 100 points that I can put into my stats. I choose to put 25 into vitality 50 into strength and 25 into mind.
The server will save the point allotment that I have chosen for each class and my point allotment will change depending on which class I switch to. Ideally there would not be any restrictions on how many points that i could put into each individual stat based on class type.
I truly hope that we will not have to change into cookie cutter classes and that we will be able to customize our stats still and not have to resort to getting gear to break free from the mould.
