In general, I think they either just need to simplify crafting a lot more, or go all out with it and make it far more engaging. As it is right now, it's just slow and monotonous just for the sake of being slow and monotonous.
it is slow and monotonous right now, cuz the world is still being built..

there is still a lot to be put into the game.. and as of right now. this game is supposed to be a casual stride through the game while everyone gets their feet wet..
as for having different crafts for stuff.. a lot of items in this game require multiple crafts.. and im learning as the higher i get into the crafts, the more i focus on just 3 instead of all of em.. why should i make iron rivets when i got a friend doing blacksmith to do it for me?

simple crafting was left behind in XI.. although this process is slow and arduous.. its crafting.. crafting no matter what isnt necessarily engaging or fun, but productive and pays off in the long run.
