Honestly, I get more crap from the anti-elitist crowd than I do from the elitist crowd.

Every time I shout for a PUG to fill a group, I give a set of requirements. Queue that white knight that thinks I overshot the requirements and am being a "toxic element in the community".

I don't care about people making their own parties. I do care about the people that join a server Pug and then drop or yell at others for not being as awesome as they say they should be...

I only give people a hard time in shout when they spend 15+ minutes being picky about who can join their WP speed run... Why? Because an avg/bad group can do it in 30 minutes. A good/great group in 15 minutes and a perfect group in 10ish.... Chances are if you are spending that long forming groups for WP I would have finished a run in the same amount of time but I also will have helped some people new to 50 in need of gear.

Yes, I was calling him out. Because his opinion is that they should change their standards because they are, in his opinion, too high. However, I never said that his gear was sub-par or anything to that effect.

My point is, it is wrong to ask people to change their standards simply because they don't match up with your own.

I don't see what the problem is with asking. Not demanding. And if said group says no thanks, that should be the end. But there is nothing wrong with asking to tag along with anything. Assuming you are geared enough in the first place. ie no AF in coil plz, etc.

Ya, that is totally fine. However, his original statement was that if he sees someone calling for standards above his own, he is going to ask them to lower theirs (to more fit his own). This is selfish and wrong. It is the same mentality of "I don't like this TV program so I'm going to write a letter to the station and ask them to stop playing it" as opposed to changing the channel.

Because while it is nice to have a relic +1, full Myth armor set for WP: It is not needed. So if I see someone shouting for 10-20 minutes: Running WP have a Relic +1, all Allagan armor, and I will do a gear check I am going to say: Dude its a level 50 quest meant to be done in AF. Not so serious please.

It's not about being serious. Its about getting a group for WP that can SR. SE set it up this way. Since they made the idiotic decision to allow ilvl90 gear to be purchased with tomes that can be farmed from WP, you are going to get end game geared players trying to SR these dungeons in order to acquire said tomes.

The use case for the person that has +1 asking for a WP run is different than the use case who is doing WP as a recent 50.

What should SE have done? Eliminated mythology all together. Make ilvl70 gear the highest you can buy with philosophy tomes. Its already proven that you can begin to do coils with that lvl of gear anyways so that bridge to end game content already existed. It also gives people that can't do coils a reason to do tower when it releases since it will *probably* have ilvl80 gear.

By making ilvl90 gear available, you have diminished the value of drops from coils and have basically made tower laughable.

To the point of this post, by maxing out at ilvl70, you shorten the gap between the various personas that would run WP.

I'm pretty sure there is nothing in the game that gives a 'dodge rate'. Sounds a lot like a WoW-like request.... But of course we were both there to see the shout right? Besides, if everyone could quantify their dodge rate, they wouldn't be stuck on Titan, I'm sure.

Then what is the point of it being a MMO and not a single player game? The whole point of an MMO is to play with strangers and friends alike. I think you're looking for a traditional RPG.

something i have noticed with people that have ran the DF a lot is they dont have the confidence that they should have about playing their class. I have friends that use the DF all day and complain about it also and i ask them why dont they make pugs and they say they are afraid to. They have been cut down and ridiculed so much in the DF that they are self conscious about how they play and are afraid that if they grouped with people on our server and did bad they would get a rep. These people are not bad, they play their class's very well but its the mentality that the DF has given them that they are trash players not only does the trash talking hurt people but also hurts the community.

the whole cross server DF needs to go away and just make it server wide.
