I think gear requirements are okay, but experience requirements are not, simply on account of experience not being provable before the first attempt. Anyone can google anything you ask about the fight. Hell, I have watched videos and lied about having experience with everything from WP to Garuda as both tank and healer and I did just fine. I fully recommend it. Lie about your experience. If you do badly and can't adapt on the first attempt, hopefully you paid attention, and next time it won't be a lie.

I think the most ridiculous and complete bullcrap requirement I've ever heard was a 95% dodge rate on Titan. I trolled that one in Revenant's Toll /shout to hell and back.

My big issue is I use the duty finder for higher level content and get people who don't know their roles and how to fulfill them, bad gear (having anything below level 40-45 on while in a 50 dungeon is bad gear), and seem to have no communication skills, by some standards that is all fine and dandy. I lose my patience at said group because they are being idiots, I'm suddenly an elitist abusing the DF. Fact is I'm not going to teach player a class at level 50, I'm not going to teach them basic mechanics. I will teach how a dungeon works though, and how I do said dungeon. My tolerance for stupidity is low, my tolerance for learning is high. Though I have no issue if you use duty finder and drop out because you don't want to teach 3 others how to run a dungeon for the first time either. That can be tough without voice.

People are getting outraged by people wanting specific requirements in shouts? Honestly? Ignore them, put them on your blacklist if it really offends you that much, but you know there's more than one of them out there that wanna play that way, so let 'em play how they want to play. Signing up on the DF carries an unspoken agreement that you want in as fast as possible and are willing to sacrifice hardcore specifics, but shouting for groups? You wanna force him to have to accept you? You clearly have a problem with how he wants to play the game, why would you want to play with him in the first place?

If you don't want to play with such people, create your own FC and party. Done. How hard was that?

So if someone's standards are higher than your own they must lower their standards just for you? That is even more selfish than setting unrealistic standards. If you don't like their standards, join another group. If you don't meet the criteria to do speed runs, then either don't do them, or level up a class / obtain gear required to do speed runs. Asking them to lower their standards is just more over-entitled socialist dribble.

Heaven forbid you start your own groups for content you wish to run.

People can set whatever standards they want. I am okay with that. Just don't be an asshat, is that asking too much?

As a tank, the biggest problem I have is impatience. I do not generally speed run. I'll skip mobs if they can be skipped and such, but blech, I haven't speed ran before and I don't want to learn how to do it with a group of randos. I think the reason people believe tanks tend to be the more rude and mean players are because we tanks put up with so much abuse and just general putdowns ('oh you pulled that mob? lol' 'why would you even pull that there, f***christ'), some people just break and project all that back on whoever was unlucky enough to group with em at that time.

I know I made a mistake before in a df group when I let a summoner get eaten by a dullahan she accidently aggroed because I thought she was being impatient and running ahead and pulling. Didn't say anything, just pointedly watched her die while killing the other dullahan, then proceeded to solo the other one down. I apologized when she said something like 'you can still tank even if I make a mistake, can't you?' and I realized she really did just make a mistake, and I felt bad. Sometimes, its just not as simple as one group of players being D***wraiths.

Whenever I tank a speedrun, nowadays, I'll tell people that it may take me some time to get used to how much damage and healing they're capable of doing, what Limitbreaks are available, and what kind of CC they're capable of. Most parties accept this, but a few times I've simply had to jump ship and /tell the next party leader desperate for a tank.

This is the answer to the problem addressed by this thread. Create or join a FC that has standards and still does dungeons. You will not be harassed by people for making such high demands because everyone in your FC expects the same from you.
