They should allow players to opt out of jumping.
/jump on
/jump off
If its on, you can jump and see people jump
If its off you can't jump or see people jump

I'm sorry, but if you can toggle jumping, what exactly what is the point of jumping in the game to begin with?
After all, if you can turn off jumping animations when they are required for navigating terrain or making jump attacks in battle, then you open a whole new can of worms in how clients interpret those actions when they are filtered. Just implementing jumping in terrain is a huge undertaking and in battle it is even bigger. There is much more to be lost than gained in implementing jumping this way.
If the jumping is just for bunnyhopping around and has no practical use in the game, why should the devs put a bunch of time and research into implementing it at all?
For my own part, I'm strongly against implementing jumping in the game unless they do it under these conditions:
1) Dragoon Job - This is where a proper jump attack MUST be implemented.
2) Emote to gain attention (although there are several emotes that do this already)
3) FFX-2/FFXIII-style jump where you can jump at certain locations to navigate terrain - I don't even like this option, but I could live with it.

The only people who should be able to jump in combat is Dragoon. But thats an activated ability. Not a function of travel that players have free control over.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
