I played on Diabolos.
Ok let's explore this offensive idea for a second.. Imagine some rocky terrain that you have to jump/climb up to get to the top for a quest item. Your party is ascending the hill. The person in front of you looks like they randomly appear at each step until they reach the top, because the game doesn't show them jumping to you, but on their screen their animation looks natural. No, that won't work.
What you are proposing is a filter to keep yourself from being annoyed. I think.. there is already a filter in the game like that! It's called the BLACKLIST! PERFECT, let's just add jumpers to the blacklist so non-jumpers cannot see them at all! You wouldn't want to party with a jumper anyway would you? They're proven idiots. Anyway, I mean only if the devs go against all common sense and implement jumping in this game.
lol
No..No sir! Platform based boss fights would be a clear violation of the Final Fantasy Code.
THAT'S RIGHT! Who has literally ever heard someone say this? No one! OMG. Elexia where were you when I made my OP? I could have used this incredible insight then! Oh well, thank you for posting it eventually.
That's RIGHT! Every time you tell someone to go back to XI a fairy dies.
HELLO PEOPLE!! You should listen to Elexia. If you tell those XI vets to go back to XI, SE being the very wise company that they are, will immediately reduce the dev team as they shift over staff members to XI. The fact that they have spent millions of dollars and years making XIV will not matter one bit to their decision! You think they are afraid of losing out on their investment? Guess again! Money means nothing to them if players go back to XI. Pride means nothing. They will gladly let XIV fall by the wayside if players support XI. If you keep talking about XI they will probably even shift Yoshi-P onto XI and just cancel XIV altogether! So watch your tongues! And thank you ElexiaYour logic is so ironproof.
Thank you Melodicya, I appreciate your compliment that jumping is such a popular topic thanks to me. I just hope SE reads my post and that the message rings loud and clear which side they should come down on on this all important topic. Also, have I ever mentioned how.. melodious your name is?
Err... I'm.. not sure what you mean.. however, I hope the devs DO see what kind of community they are looking at when making these important decisions that will affect FFXIV's future for a long time. They should not only think about the kind of community they are looking at now, but what kind of community they hope to have in the future. It's like, let's say I'm a small elementary school in a rural area in the countryside. At first, I don't have a lot of students so I only buy the short school buses. Every morning I pick up all the members of the community and they come to my school in shortbuses. Eventually, as my community grows I will have more members to pick up and bring to school. Logic would dictate that I would invest in some long, normal school buses to pick up the new members of the community but if the devs keep doing stuff like not implementing jump, what we are going to see is all the members of the community packed into these shortbuses. Which would probably suit this small community very well but if it grew any bigger it would be majorly cramped.
YES! Be very afraid.
Let's look at the above two quotes very carefully. Steelcyclone (somewhat rudely) said that jump is a basic (if offensive) feature AND that all A-list MMOs have jump. It seems like he is presenting a case of an industry standard.
Malakhim accuses him of contradicting himself, saying that he said that nobody plays a game because they can jump, which he did not say. Then Malakhim says that Steelcyclone then builds on that statement (that he didn't make) and implies that the only way an MMO can see success is to include jump (which Steelcyclone also didn't say). So how do we make sense of this? Malakhim has pointed out 2 things that didn't exist in Steelcyclone's post, and used his own logic based on nothing to make his own accusational point against Steelcyclone.. obviously there is only one response to this irregularity...
/bow down to Malakhim. Thank you for your awesome insight into Steelcyclone's statement! You could read between the lines where none of us could. We need you to take a look at some of the other logical-sounding statements being made in this forum.
Can't..fight..this...logic..Malakhim....HELP!!
YES! If a game has emotes, some people will be annoying people. But if a game has jumping, it will actually MAKE people more annoying! It didn't strike me before that a game could automatically change a person from the inside out just by adding a feature but you are RIGHT! I'm recruiting Panainen along with Malakhim to be a part of my special anti-jumping task force.
