Sure. They could add it . Or they could add more options & more fun other than jump. Either way -shrugs-limiting options is never a good thingMore options means more fun means more players. Look @ WoW.... >.> or rift and I didn't like those games all that much.
ff games also had jump. Depending on the game it was a pole/spear move commonly for dragoon. Mostly used for avoiding attacks. And there were a few SE games wiith a form of auto jumping. ff13 was not the only ff game with auto jump.
Swimming sure because You can do underwater Fights (Which would be epic).. Mountain Climb I go for that because You could have you and your party climb up a mountain to fact a Boss ( Perhaps.. Bahamut)... Jumping..is just something that doesn't have any real means to it" Any Strategy while jumping? Not really Any Battling Changes that occur while jumping? Not really Only thing Jumping does is turn them into Mario/bunny hoppers that can cause Conflicts with players.
Jumping (limitations) I don't mind like Jumping over cliffs, or Jumping Animations by jumping off a cliff. But freely jumping around out of no where at least to me would make me feel like i'm retarded in my sense. but thats my personal insight on Jumping
Starlord outs =)

I'd like to have the ability to jump in FFXIV. I think having the ability to do things like jump over fences would make the world a little more immersive and make characters more expressive.
you guys are really over exxaggerating the bunny hoper bs. This does not effect your gaming. :/ Just turn your camera to not like at the 1 bunny hopper you see in town and stop making the 1 bunny hopper into 300.
It wasn't as bad as you guys think. Including in pwi. The first tutorial made you jump around to reach a chest fyi....
How another player play a game as long as it isn't cheating is none of your concern. And you shouldn't base you opinion on that.
I want jump as it add a layer to the game, it will bring in players. Which is a need. The more players we can have join the better. I vote for anything that adds in more players. Which is why I vote for more options.
What the OP meant to say was "I would love for them to implement jumping because it would make the game even more fun by giving it more options for aesthetic and for game play reasons. It would add more to the fights if implemented that way or it would make the game feel more alive, realistic, and add immersion if I was able to jump up onto a ledge or jump down from one instead of having to walk a mile to get around it"

The realism/immersion thing can be over-used when it supports ones purpose, then ignored when it doesn't. It can be used for or against jump really. What the OP meant to say was "I would love for them to implement jumping because it would make the game even more fun by giving it more options for aesthetic and for game play reasons. But yea, that was a more diplomatic way of putting it.

I still support the "only in some spots" jumping style of FFXIII.
And bullcrap on that "Only 1/5 people in WoW bunnyhop!" statement. Every Rogue bunnyhops in WoW, and even then, some other people do it to do it. Even so, 20% of the people I see bunnyhopping? Yeah, no thanks.
That's not why I don't support it though. It'd just be kinda weird for them to have jumping without anything to do with it :L They'd have to make it so there's something to actually DO with jumping (such as jumping puzzles in dungeons) before they actually implement jumping for me...otherwise, there's no reason to actually have voluntary jumping other than bunnyhopping :/ Any cliff you could jump on/over right now makes you walk on/off it instead. The furthest they could do to "jump" with that is make it the auto-jump from FFXIII.
Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh
Thats the only "type" of Jump I would want at least for me anyways, Is to Jump where it's Needed to jump =)I still support the "only in some spots" jumping style of FFXIII.

You SEE SE??? This is what happens when you threaten to implement jumping! Starlord is gonna bail the second he sees the massive influx of players drawn to the jumping feature. Don't let this happen SE! Starlord is the kind of gamer you want to have around.
Thank you Starlord you and I see eye to eye. There is not a 1 percent chance out of 2 that jumping could add any strategic element to battles whatsoever. Jumping over ground effects from a boss would not add in any way to strategy or fun at all. It would only be a stupid hassle, which is why jumping shouldn't be implemented. Also yes it causes conflicts with other players. MAJOR conflicts! I once witnessed a 3 day power battle in WoW started over 1 single bunny hopper in Goldshire. We are talking practically riots in the streets. Just imagine, 1 player somewhere, hitting the jump button over and over.. and over.. and over.. and over.. throwing the entire server into a blind, uncontrollable rage. Because it has nothing to do with maturity if you get upset over someone bunny hopping. You can be a totally mature person and see that one person bunny hopping, and quit the game. It's SE's responsibility to make sure the game is acceptable to the type of player that can't stand to see bunny hopping. I'm pretty sure it said that somewhere on the website before the new team took over.

I don't mind Limited Jumping that has some sort of immersion purpose to it, but free for all jumping.. not my style
I wont leave the game over jumping, mainly because I love the Final Fantasy feel of the game.. However, jumping would take a step backwards in the Final Fantasy feel of the game, Correct me if im wrong.. there wasn't any form of jumping ( excluding Chocobo related jumping) in any of the Final Fantasy games.
