Jumping as a combat mechanic opens up more gameplay possibilities.Lol this is too rediculous, jumping is not a fr@#king issue, let the devs work on the something that matters for a while. btw there's nothing nextgen about jumping, even if you know nothing about video games the op layed out a brief history. clearly 1982 is not nextgen.
Seriously i'm annoyed by jump spammers too but, either way gameplay would not be effected in the slightest. gameplay improves with actual content and goals not ui or controls.
Jumping as a navigation tool is an extra benefit.

Jumping = Not needed, but would make exploring a bit nicer, and who knows maybe even a aid a little in battle. It's just more to do, and that is something this game needs drastically. Rapidly jumping in all the people's faces who find it annoying would be better than sitting around doing nothing after leves. XD
I don't get why people find rapid jumping annoying. I get the whole immersion thing, but is it really that bad that it has to be banned from this game? The creators want to make this game great and mostly, get some money out of it. Jumping opens up more terrain options and maybe a few battle mechanics so there is no reason not to add it if it makes the game funner. If it sacrifices some immersion then so be it.
If not manual jumping then how about Zelda style jumping? That worked nicely and flowed nicely as well.

no more possibilities than moving to an opponents side when it does a frontal aoe, and no more benefit than knowing which cliff faces are magically scale-able. fact is these things don't make enough of a difference to benefit this game right now, trust me if this game was at a better state (the state it could be in) there'd be 1/10th the amount of people complaining about jumping then there are now.

So, basically release it alongside of content that it would be useful with? I'm actually really liking Zelda style jumping for this game. I feel it would fit very nicely if they made some maps or something to go along with it.no more possibilities than moving to an opponents side when it does a frontal aoe, and no more benefit than knowing which cliff faces are magically scale-able. fact is these things don't make enough of a difference to benefit this game right now, trust me if this game was at a better state (the state it could be in) there'd be 1/10th the amount of people complaining about jumping then there are now.
Exactly. We may not need jump now, but that doesn't mean that it can't be used to enrich gameplay later. There is a reason so many games have it.
IMO zelda jump is worthless for anything but aesthetic value. Not opposed to it, just that more realistic character movement is way low on my wishlist.

Any jump serves the same purpose. Zelda jump gets you from point a to point b. Any jump gets you from point a to point b.Exactly. We may not need jump now, but that doesn't mean that it can't be used to enrich gameplay later. There is a reason so many games have it.

lol all Zelda jump is automated jump where jumping is needed.

I'd rather see them add arrows affected by gravity before they add a jump feature.
